  • A lump...cancer?

I have a hard, yet "floppy" and very tender lump almost at the very top of my left testicle. Its within that mass of veins, epidemysis?

The area around it seems to be inflammed aswell...larger than the other testicle.

Its about the size of a grain of rice...and about as hard too.

Anyway, its not painful...a dull ache on and off for a year or so but has not gone away for about a month now since I pulled a muscle in my groin area.

Since then, I found the lump and may have aggrivated it by pinching it slightly when I found it...which hurt. The ache definitely seems to generate from this lump.

I also have aches in my lower back, thigh, behind my knee and a small area just above my penis (on the left side).

I should also add I have had no other noticable symptoms and the aches don't appear to be getting worse...however, they become different...the aches shift, worse in some areas, others not so much.

Also, the testicle itself is fine and not tender...just the upper area of it where the lump is and the spermatic cord.

There is no real swelling (though it is VERY SLIGHTLY, hardly noticable, larger and heavier than the other testicle).

    What do you think?

I think you need to get to the doctor, a urologist if possible. It sounds like you have an infection in the epididymis or an epididymal cyst. But please get it checked. If it turns out to be nothing serious, then you can stop worrying, and even if it's only an infection, you will probably still need a course of anitbiotics. Infections can become serious if left untreated.

    Let us know.

    Best wishes,

Well, about two weeks ago I started using this soft-muscle tissue gel (Feldene) and I'm not sure if its because of the gel or the inactivity but it seems to have gotten better.

Its not completely gone but has significantly improved.

Two weeks ago it was a continuous dull ache (not pain) and uncomfortable feeling around the left side of my scrotum.

Now, it only happens occasionally - and only for up to 20 minutes. I go hours without feeling anything.

The tube says to only use it for two weeks...apply up to 3-4 times a day...I've been applying it to the aching parts of my leg and groin about 3 times a day.

About infections - don't they usually take hours to spread? The reason I ask is I've had this for over a month and there has been no real change...it just aches...I can even walk around for hours at a time without feeling any pain.

PS. I even work out at night (pushups and weights) with no problems.

If you still have that lump in the epididymis, you should probably go to the doctor. If it's a cyst, the fluid pressure could be causing your intermittant aches. Ultimately it's your decision, but a lump like you described is not a typical part of the epididymis.

          Best wishes,
