    Hello,

About 3 months ago, I noticed a small, pea-sized lump on my left testicle. It kind of rotated around, but I really couldn't determine where it was coming from. It caused me no pain or discomfort at all. The other day, I noticed that the lump was back. Furthermore, on my scrotum there was a little thing on it. It kind of looks like a pimple. I examined it, and accidentally popped it. Blood came out of it. I was majorly freaked out. It is still there today, along with the lump. Since this really freaked me out, I started doing some internet research on testicular cancer. I have been reading this site, and thought I would see if anyone could advise me on whether or not these 2 things are symptoms of testicular cancer? Thank you very much for all of your help.

    Hey Matt,

It doesn't sound like TC to me, but i would recommend going to a doctor to have it checked out to be on the safe side. Keep us updated.

      Question

Thank you very much Kevin. I really appreciate your advice. 2 questions though...What makes you think that it doesn't sound like testicular cancer? Is the blood blister not a sign of the cancer? I have never had that happen before. Thanks again.

The big thing to look for in tc is that the tumor is solid and a part of the testicle not an attachment. What you have sounds like a cyst, you probably should get it checked, it will help you sleep at night when the doc says to not worry about it.

          Question

Thank you very much for your advice too. I appreciate it. Is the blood blister a sympton of TC? Also, are there treatments for cysts, or do they eventually just go away?

            ditto what "Dadmo" said.

A pimple type thing on the scrotum is not a sign of TC. Here are some symptoms of TC:

A lump or mass in either testicle
Any enlargement or swelling of a testicle
A collection of fluid in the scrotum
A dull ache in the lower abdomen, back, or in the groin
A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
Discomfort or pain in a testicle or in the scrotum
Enlargement or tenderness of the breasts

              Question

You both are helping me so much. Thank you again. How can you tell if the lump is part of the testicle or just an attachment through a self examination?

                Matt0426,
If you haven't been there already, the TRC site is an excellent source of information. http://tcrc.acor.org Look at the Self Exam topic and see if that gives you any clarity on what to feel for. Cysts are not uncommon, many times do not go away, but can be surgically removed or aspirated with a needle . I chime in with dadmo and Kev322 that is doesn't sound suspicious but please have a urologist check it out (not a GP). The urologist can also instruct on a Testicular Self Exam if you're not sure how to do it. Good luck!!

(and as a Mom I'll say "stop squeezing cysts or you'll get an infection" )

                Best,
                Karen

                  Question

Thank you so much Karen. I briefly took a look at that website, and it has great information. I will look at it in more detail today. I am just worried because the lump that I have seems to be there one day, and then it is gone the next. Then when the pimple like structure appeared, and had blood in it, it scared me. I am glad that there are people out there like you guys who can help someone like me.

                    Matt,
You may have given yourself a pimple/blister/ingrown hair through your exam. Worrying and poking will drive you crazy and won't get you an answer, and as much as we'd all like to be able to tell you what this by your description, we can't. Let us know what the urologist says since we all learn from this forum. Good luck and enjoy the relief when you find out it's nothing!

                      Question

Thanks Karen! How can I tell if the lump is actually attached to my testicle or if it is floating around?

By going to the urologist and getting it checked is my vote. I'll leave that question for the guys to answer... not having my own personal pair puts me at a disadvantage to guide you on that one!
