  • Had Varicocele, Now TC?

In 2000 I descovered a lump on my left testicle, I was 15. It was bigger than a pea, probably like the size of a bean? Anyway, I went to the urologist and he told me it was a Varicocele. I had the surgery, but after I recorvered the lump was still there, same size and everything. So I went back, he said it was "scar tissue". So I went on with my life, etc.

Well, now I'm 21, and recently I've been getting pain in both of my testicles, with the lump still on my left testicle after all these years. The pains are the dull kind of uncomfortable pain, nothing terrible. And some new pains. Like in my lower abdomin, lower back, and groin. The pains are sharp and don't last more than a few seconds, except the back pain. And it feels sometimes like my testicles are tender a lot, when I'm just sitting doing nothing.

So I went back to the doctor recently, and he gave me a urinalysis (which came back negative today) and an ultrasound. But I don't have my untrasound untill April 24th, they're only opening, so I have to wait. But I thought I'd post here to get other peoples advice.

And I was thinking maybe TC, highly unlikely, but you never know. I have cancer in my family, and when I was young I had an undescended testicle, and I read that you're 40 times more likely to get TC because of a undescended testicle. Or maybe I still have a Vericocele? Who knows. Just thought I'd see what other people with experience in this had to say. Thanks.

    No one? lol.

Another thing I was thinking was when I had the Varicocele, why did I have a lump too? Varicocele's usually don't come with a lump, right? Sooo whats my lump?

Has the lump gotten any bigger and is it attached to the testicle? I would certainly expect TC to continue to grow larger and be attached to the testicle. Perhaps your doctor is right and it's only scar tissue. Even though it's a couple weeks away, the ultrasound should shed some light on your problem. Have they done any blood tests? If not ask your doctor, you can get tumor marker results back in a few days.

Let us know what you find out.

Hang in there and hopefully you'll find out it's nothing serious.

      Best wishes,

        Thanks for responding!

Um, the lump has remained the same size before and after my surgery in 2000, still the same size currently. And yes, its attached to my testicle. But now all the new pains I'm getting I didn't have back then. Back then I just had the lump, and it hurt whenever you squeezed it, but of course its gonna hurt if you do that.

Now I'm getting new pains in my gorin, lower adomin, lower back, and sometimes down my thy. Sometimes the pain is more intense and shooting, but doesn't last long. And sometimes when I'm just sitting sill they feel like, tender, like I have "blue balls", which as most of us know is quite uncomfortable.

And yeah, I will ask my doctor for a blood test. And I need to call to hopefully find an earlier oppointment for my ultrasound.

Also, I read that if my lump is solid, its a tumor and is most likely cancerous. Is that true?

It's really hard to guess what any lump might be. If the blood tests show that your HCG or AFP (tumor markers) are elevated OR if the ultrasound is suspicious, then the doctor will probably want to remove the testicle. That way the cells in the lump can be examined under a microscope, that's the only way to know for sure what you have.

Remember, it's quite possible that the other pains you're having are not at all related to the lump in your testicle and could be related to some type of activity of even stress.

          Keep us updated.

          Best wishes,

            Update

Hi, did you ever find out what the lump was? I am intrigued as I have similar to you?

            Regards

My varicocele was very distinguishable from the testicle. My lump, however, was not. I would ask for an ultrasound, for peace-of-mind's sake.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out!
