Could he have said "scrotal" swelling and not "nodal" swelling??? If he said something you didn't understand I'd suggest a phone call. No sense wondering...

Well, that certainly makes more sense. Swelling can be a sign of infection, or possibly something more. http://tcrc.acor.org is a great site for you to visit and read up on the basics of testicular anatomy, self exams, and things other than TC that can cause swelling. It is very important that you follow through with the ultrasound so that you can get an answer for the cause of the swelling. Even if it is not TC it may be something that needs treatment or watching. The site I refer you to also has questions to ask your doctor about your exam and results. Print it out and bring it with you to write down his answers. Even the brightest of people blank out when they talk with doctors about something that is frightening to them. The urologist will prvide better guidance than a GP, in most cases. I don't know what part of the world you're in, but if you delevop pain or feel anything unusual in the self exam I advise that you do not wait a few months for a vist to the urologist and an ultrasound. Best wishes!
