I just checked in with my urologist yesterday, he felt the right one and said it feels normal, and sometimes we just get testicular pains from time to time for no apparent reason. I guess I'll be satisfied with that unless I see the tumor markers go up.

My AFP and HCG were 25 and 390something respectively pre-op, and dropped to about 3 and 5, and have remained there. CT and chest x-ray from last week came back clean, still waiting on labwork for new AFP and HCG numbers, but unless they are elevated I'm not going to worry much.

I lost both within 6 weeks as well. Very, very rare. If you do lose both (and there's a good chance you won't), rest assured you'll be fine.

The odds of a second testicular cancer are reportedly about 3-4%.

I had the same experience you're reporting. Stay in touch with your doctor about it, of course, but I suspect you're really fine.

I was told less than 1% chance. I haven't checked deeper into it since it really didn't matter. i had it anyway! just have an ultrasound done to be safe. as in my case i had no lumps that presented itself as cancer. just some minor pain and swelling. so yes it is possible but very unlikely that you have it in both testicals. keep us posted! my thoughts and prayers,

What are the chances of getting it in both??? I'm feeling somewhat of the same pains in the right one now that I felt before lefty was diagnosed (left IO in january). It feels larger, but maybe it's just in my head, I don't know really since I have nothing to compare it with anymore now that lefty is gone.

I have an appt with the urologist later today, so we'll see. Numbers have been fine since I had lefty out, CT scans clean, etc. I never did do chemo though, have just been doing surveillience at the suggestion of Dr. Einhorn.

But anyway, what are the chances of having to have both testicles out? Can that happen and does it happen often?
