I woke up three nights ago with a major pain in my right testicle. The last two days, I have had a dull ache in my testicle and a dull ache in abdomen. I am really a worrier so I don't know if that ache is from me knowing the symptoms of TC or not. I thought I felt a lump at the top of my testicle, but I have the same little gushy piece on both of my testicles. With the dull ache, I had a tiny bit of swelling in both of my testicles, but that was only for a day. Now, they feel a lot better and are not swollen at all. Any ideas? I know I should go to the doctor, but if everything goes away do I really need to? Thanks.

The chances of getting testicular cancer in both testicles at the same time is so small that I wouldn't even consider that as a possibility. You most likely have an infection of some sort which should still be checked out by a urologist.Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. All right, I'm back. I went to a physician to get my boys checked out and they couldn't find anything. I still have a little uneasy or dull ache in my testicles so I'm still worried. I went through a long physical exam and she told me that she really couldn't find anything. Then I had a urine sample and they couldn't find anything. She thought that I had injured them or something like that. It has now been a week since I've had this pain. The lower abdominal pain is basically gone, but I still seem to not feel very well. I know I'm thinking about it a ton, but I guess I'm just worried. What do you guys think?

I think if you continue to have pain then it would be time to make a appiontment with a Urologist.. Sometimes a Family Doctor will not catch potential problem because this is not their field of expertise... If the problem continues see a specialist... Best of Luck!!!!!Moffitt Cancer Institute

Yup, get your boys to a urologist. Nothing was ever felt on my husband by 2 GPS or the urologist. However, unlike the 2 GPs who shrugged their shoulders, the urologist took action and a diagnosis was made via US and markers. This is just uncommon enough that a LOT of GPs go their entire career without encountering TC. Good luck and don't stop until you get an explanation for your pain.Retired moderator. I have to agree with Karen on this one. Go to a urologist (or even your local emergency room... that's what I did), explain your symptoms and ask for an ultrasound and a blood test for tumor markers. That's really the best way to find out if you have TC, and if you do have it.. you want to find out as soon as possible so you can get it taken care of.

I have to jump in here and beat the same drum. It may be nothing but let a urologist do the testing. Best of luck.Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

I've gotta say go for the urologist and the ultrasound, too. Doctor's didn't think what I had was TC (both times?) until they saw masses on the ultrasound.TC 1

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it. Today, the testicle pain is completely gone. I am pretty relieved. They feel like they used to. I have a little bit of chest pain and my lower back is tight, but I think that is from working football camp. I know you think I should get checked out, but what do you think. The physician really thought I just got injured during the camps I was working and that is why I was working. Any more thoughts? I guess I would love to just put this behind me.

My response, in a creative poem:
When it doubt,
check it out!
(sorry, it's been a long week and it's only Tuesday)
Seriously, for peace of mind I advise getting it checked, this way next time you have a back ache or abdominal pain you don't need to worry. It's most likely nothing but knowing for certian will be a relief for you (and good news for us to hear!)Retired moderator. I just got back from the urologist and everything looks good. I had a testicular torsion and that is why I had so much pain. I had an ultrasound and everything looks normal. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and help. You guys do a great thing here, thanks again.

Karl:
Congratulations on not having the big "C" but torsion is no picnic either. Take care of yourself and enjoy every moment.Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Karl,
Glad to hear you checked it out and it's not tc. Dadmo's right to make sure all is OK with the torsion. Take care and keep up the monthly self-exams!Retired moderator. Husband, left I/O 16Dec2005, stage I seminoma with elevated b-HCG, no LVI, RTx15 (25Gy). All clear ever since.
