  • I have a swelled left testicle.please read

First of all, I am very impressed with this website, excellent and well done. It's very informative and relieving in a sense!
I am a 21 year old Irish guy and am in a scare over my testicle at the moment.
I was with a girl and she called me about 2 days later telling me to get my testicle checked out and that she was "serious". My left testicle is enlarged and swollen; I never paid any attention to it and just thought that I was lucky to have big balls! But I got a scare when she told me this and started browsing info. I went to my doc the next morning and he felt it, said it was probably a hydrocele and then illuminated it. No light shone through the testicle, and he didn't make an issue over it but said he was booking me into get an ultrasound urgently(to confirm hydrocele?!).
I am going to get my ultrasound this tuesday and Im very worried.
I have had this swelling for a long time from my own guessing. My testicle is basically very fluidy but the botton left hand side of the actual testicle is swolen and pointy in my opinion through the scrotum. This is when my testicles are solid and not hanging. When my testicles hang, the left one looks very large compared to the right. It feels very fluidy, but I am very worried that tuesday ill get a fright! Im only 21 and i have read about guys 23,22 and 18 getting this disease. Please someone advice me, im sorry for the hard to read post, but this is really trying times for me, i want to be able to have kids; its my dream to have my own kids without any compromise or chance of it not being possible.

I would completly ignore the results of the light test. Even if the light made the mass look fluid filled you should get an ultrasound. The fact that the testicle feels soft is good so it's quite possible that you do have a hydrocele or cyst. What the ultrasound will be looking for is a solid mass. Don't panic if they also draw blood, the doctor may have ordered that to see if you have any elevated markers that might indicate cancer.
Remember even if it is cancer it's very curable and one testicle is all you need to have children.
