  • Biopsy?

    Hi,

I heard on some site that if a urologist finds a solid lump in the testicle, that the whole testicle will have to be removed for examination.

However, whilst reading on another site I hear that they can just do a biopsy, which is removing tissue from the lump rather than removing the whole testicle to see if its cancerous.

    So which do they do?

    Thanks

They take the whole thing you only need one so better safe then sorry, too hard to make sure that you get all of the cancer out. I don't think any URO would just try to take the cancer and leave the rest anymore, since the cure rate is so high after removing the whole thing.

A solid mass in the testicle is cancer far more often than not, so it's routine to remove the testicle.
