I don't think there's any link between cancer and low body temperature though. The cause of low body tempereture is due to low BMR (basal metabolic rate) which means low cell metabolism. The cause of cancer is not properly known, but one thing for sure the cause of cancer (in a nutshell) is failure of WBC's to "eat up" cancer cells.

Low BMR may be a cause of low thyroid hormone secretion from the thyriod gland.While this may link to wilson's disease, there can be other reasons why low body temperature happens.

The testicles is placed outside the body, this means that the testicle itself need a lower body tempereture for normal functioning. Therefore, clinical scenarios like undescended testis( testis remain in the abdominal cavity) may result in sterility.

Can low temp encourage growth?!>

Thanks for your thoughts. My questions are around if having a low temp ecourages the growth. If the tumor starts to grow in a "cool" part of the body, does having a bit cooler than normal body create an even better environment for the cancer cells to sprout!? Maybe this is why the tumors can grow elsewhere in the body...if the overall core temp is low as compared with someone who has a normal temp and keeps the disease at bay.

Recently there have been articles about heat killing TC. I know they are just starting to research. My question here however is around core body temperature. My son's temperature is consistantly low. 96-97 degrees F.

I think there's a relation between heat and the testis. But since your son's body temperature is low, there shouldn't be any problem to him.

Thanks for the information that you have found. My son did work at a garden center for a while. ? Two is at least worth glancing at. It will be interesting to see if there are other replys. I sometimes wonder if science gets too far into the confusing and forgets the simple. Who knows!?!!!! People went crazy before they found the answers to polio. Someday it will all come together. For now...it is a tight rope walk.

My usual temperature is also lower than average - usually 97.0 -97.4 or so. Could be on to something but two does not make a pattern.

I personally wondered if it was the temperature of the area in question, and since I prefer tightie-whities, that some had mentioned to me about high temperature in that area be ing a contributing factor made some senseto me. But the studies you mention indicate the opposite.

My Urologist told me that there was no real definitive reason - meaning nothing I did to cause it, he preferred to call it luck of the draw. He did mention, and some of the studies I have seen show of course the strong genetic ties (i.e. brothers and sons), and some fairly strong environmental ties to exposure to chemicals or oil/gas type compounds (i.e. chiminey sweeps, farm workers, oil and gas workers, mechanics, etc. - use your face mask, coveralls, and wash after working around chemicals or oil/gas ).
