  • sensitive bump on left testicle

    Hi,

i'm 19 and sexually active but I've been with the same girl for over 2 years, and about a week ago i noticed some pain in my left testicle, on a scale of 1-10 it was probably about a 6. I work out about 5 days a week but I don't recall any specific instances of pain or pulling something. it was still hurting the following day so I felt around and found a very tiny bump on the back/top of my left testicle. probably about 1mm in size it's fairly firm and is right near where the epididymis meets the testicle. I decided to wait to see if the pain/bump would go away. a few days ago the pain went down but it's not completely gone, it fluctuates between 0-2 on a 10 point scale and I decided to see an on-campus doctor at my university yesterday. he tested me for chlamydia (ow) and prescribed me Doxycycline in case it's an infection.
He seemed to think the tiny bump was too hard to be a cyst, and was concerned that it didn't feel the same as my other testicle..? to be cautious he's having me get an ultrasound to see exactly what it is. As far as symptoms there's no swelling, and there might be a very slight groin pain but it's probably just my imagination. i was also very tired for the first couple days after i felt the pain and slept for about 12 hours both of the following nights. the bump itself is pretty sensitive and discomforting to touch. I tried to be as thourough as I could about my situation and greatly appreciate anyone who reads or responds to this. please share some thoughts about what this might be, good or bad, because it's really starting to worry me. thank you all.

    HI there ...
well I have some news from my situation .

I had almost the same thing . I had a bit of a swollen testical and a small lump and I went to the DR and he said that it was chlamydia . and prescribed antibiotics to me . After taking the course of anitbiotics the swelling went down a bit but it didnt go away totaly because I had TC I was missdiagnosed . it took another 2-3 months before i was diagnosed correctly . but at the time i didnt know a thing a about TC and or what to ask the DR's in this siutation .
I would suggest that you go in for the ultra sound and have blood test and talk to you DR about TC and the possibilities .
You will know more after the ultrasound and blood tests .
    Good luck M8

All I can add is that you're doctor did the right thing scheduling an ultrasound. With the lump being firm that's about all anyone here could recommend. Just remember tc is very uncommon.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

i really appreciate your guys prompt responses,, especcially considering how early it is in the morning. do you have any other possible explainations for the firmness besides tc? i know it's impossible to tell without further testing but i've also read a couple places that 95% of testicular masses are cancer,, i'm not sure how valid or accurate that information is but it definately makes me uneasy. thanks again.

The high percentage is for solid testicular masses. It's still possible you're feeling a cyst. The ultrasound will tell you. Keep us posted.

k my ultrasound is tommorrow (friday) at 2:30. if there's a radiologist available I should get the results tomorrow,, but if not then I have a follow up appointment at 1:30 on monday. i'm keeping my thoughts positive because even if it were cancerous it sounds like it's extremely treatable at this stage considering its "BB" size. i know this isn't a prayer group, but if you wouldn't mind saying a quick prayer for me you have no idea how much it'd be appreciated. thank you so much for your help.

                Stop touching it

                Black LSI,
Good luck with the ultrasound- that and blood markers are really your next step. You should also see a Urologist.
A little tip in the meantime, try to stop touching yourself at this point- it will only cause more and irratation to a sentitive spot. Take some Advil, Motrum or whatever you use and try to rest.
Keep in mind, if you do come up with TC, It is a very very treatable disease.
Good luck, and keep your head up.
