  • found a lump, dr cant see me until 12/18

Hi all. I found a lump about a week ago on my left testicle. I called my Dr. and the soonest he can see me is December 18th. I tried calling a few different urologists but none of them will see me without a referral. I am kinda starting to freak out here. The Dr. said that if anything changes before my appointment I should go to the ER. Should I just go to the ER to get it checked out or wait it out until the 18th?

just got back from the doctors office. He said he doesnt think it is cancerous but wants an ultra sound and blood test just to be on the safe side. The ultra sound hasn't been scheduled yet but I'll let you all know how it turns out. Thanks again

18 days isn't that bad but if you do the self exam and you're fairly sure you have a problem go to the ER. Just complain about testicle pain.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

It doesn't say where you are from but if you live in a city with a walk in clinic you can go there so you don't get hit with the high ER bill. It won't be YOUR doctor but I would guess they will know as much as the ER doctor since TC is rare and if the doctor thinks it needs to be scanned he can call and get you in somewhere ASAP, if the doctor is worried he will call and press until they fit you in for a ultrasound if needed. Bad thing about the walk in clinic is everyone will have the flu or some other crap you don't want so wash your hands after being in the waiting room and when you get home.

Ok I've been on the phone and got an appointment with another doctor for Monday. I am going to wait it out over the weekend. Thanks for all the advice. I'll let you know Monday afternoon what the doctor says.

          *edit*

as far as the self test goes, I've already done it and read up on some of the possible symptoms. At this point the signs point towards tc but I guess I won't know for sure until the doctor takes a look at it.

Just remember cyst are more common then TC by a long ways Chances are it isn't TC but you still HAVE to get it checked great job on getting the Monday visit, no doctor should have you wait over 2 weeks if someone calls in with a lump, they need to work you in ASAP.
              Good Luck
