      michael:
You certainly can get cancer of the epididymis but I can't think of one person who has come to this site and had that as a problem. What are your symptoms?
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

That's great. I can't even begin to tell you how many doctors don't take that extra step of sending for an ultrasound. Let us know what you find, but relax you're going to be ok.

I have the same thing as you Michael and it is nothing. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound and everything was okay.

Of course I found all this while my son going through chemo, can you stay stress?

Take a deep breath, all will be well.

                Hi

                michael1988,

I have exactly same thing, a lump in head of epididymis on my right side, I was going to wait as my doctor suggested but the I had to go to ER for severe pain a month ago. My doctor gave me two options to wait for few months and see what happens or go for inlingual exploration (going tomorrow) and he is going to do some test once he takes out the testicle and see if it is good or bad, if it is bad he is going to go for Orchiectomy. Eventhough I do not have severe pain any more, I have dull pain in my right testicle and my back. Hope that helps.

                Regards,

This is not to alarm you or anyone- and I do not have all the correct saying for all the doctors told me when I first had swelling in the testical area. ( of course I let it go about five months till the pain actually started hurting and not that dull pain)
When I first went to the doctor about pain and swelling they did a ultasound and it came back as an infection to the epididymis called some like epididymision (sp) and he gave me anti-biotics and pain medicine and sent me home. About three months later another round of antibiotics and pain medicine this time high doses since he said that the testical area is difficult to get rid of infections.
Well the pain went away but the swelling continued. When the pain came back about another four months later is when they did another ultrasound. Two days later I was at work when my doctor called and that afternoon I was getting my left testical removed because it contained cancer.
Because I did not seek another opinion when I knew something was wrong -plus my stubborn attitude - it cost me four rounds of Chemo.
                      >
Not saying this to alarm but I may have been spared terrible chemo if I had seeked another opinion. Make sure you keep on top of any lump or the smallest pain in your testical region. Wish I had!
Stage II seminoma and nonseminoma cancer 2005. HCG was 21,000.00 when it was suppose to be below 5.0- Lost one testical, 4 rounds of BEP, cancer free since last CT-Scan. But I was stupid. I let it go for nearly a year before seeing a doctor. If I had known about this site in 2004 I might have avoided all this!

I just met with the oncologist today, 2 weeks after my right I/O. They told me that my case was very unusual in that the cancer appeared to have began on the epididymis and actually grew into the testicle. Thankfully it was only stage 1 seminoma and now I'm having to decide whether to do 1 or 2 rounds of chemo or surveillence. I'm not telling anyone this to make them paranoid, but just to make them aware, that while it is pretty rare, getting cancer in the epididymis can happen.

And not to sound like an infomercial, but that's why it's VERY important to check yourself regularly and don't hesistate to go to the doctor if you feel something unusual.
