  • My Lump

I'm 19 now but i think i started to notice my lump only about a year ago. I've read a lot of articles and forums till now and i've always found some reason for not going to the doctor.

My left testicle has something above it like a inflated bag or something. Most of the times my left testicle is bigger than my right which is not a problem i guess but there's some lump behind it.anyway this is not my main worry. If i leave it loose for a while my left side of the testicle becomes two three times bigger than the right and more concerningly there's a huge lump above it and hangs so akwardly.

There's not much pain now but where i live i dont think there are that many doctors around,so could somebody pls tell me an idea of what they think it is??? will be very gratefull... have exams for the next few weeeks so anything other than go see the doctor soon suggestion is welcome!!! Thnks...

    Hi Maradona,

What you describe on the left side... the big soft bag, actually sounds like a varicocele...veins where their structural integrity has failed causing them to balloon out. If it's soft, and above the actual testicle, it is really not a 'lump'.

Having said all that, you should still see a doc.

    Good Luck!

I agree, from the description, it sounds like a varicocele.

          Hi maradona,

Most of the time, varicoceles appear at around your age, and most of the time they are on the left side. The varicocele generally does not need repair unless it is causing you problems (reduced fertility, pain, or discomfort). If you need to get it repaired, it requires surgery to bypass the defective veins. I think it is pretty straightforward.

I had similar features on the left side as you describe, and that testicle was always small and annoying. I do not think that the varicocele 'caused' the TC, but I'm not sure. Statistically many men have varicoceles (10-20%), yet very few ever get TC (<1%) so it would be nearly impossible to establish a link between the two.

          Regards,

Remember that we are just making an educated guess based on your description, and you'll still want a doctor's diagnosis.

My left testicle becomes so big if i don't wear a undergarment... I don't feel any discomfort physically but its all mental...

I do feel my sperm count is pretty low... So can you tell me something about the surgery cause i definately don't want to be walking around like this anymore, people have noticed it and asked me questions???
