  • How fast does TC grow and how good are ultrasounds?

    Hello All,

I have had a slightly smaller than BB size lump on my right testicle for at least several years. It doesn't seem to have changed shape or size in this period but I sometimes feel that I have some minor pain in that testicle and even my abdomen/ groin on that side although I am wondering if my mind is fabricating the pain since I think there may be something wrong.

How fast does TC grow/ change/ spread?

Also I had an ultrasound 2 years ago and they noted "a small cyst, likely representing a small spermatocele" as well as a "small left hydrocele".

How accurate are ultrasounds and aren't they open to some interpretation by the Doctor?

    Opinions?

Ultrasounds are very reliable for the detection of fluid filled (cysts) vs. solid (tumor) objects. The results can of course be read wrong but I would think they weren't. I would still go back to the doctor for another exam, the fact that you were ok 2 years ago doesn't mean something hasn't changed. Your probably ok but why take that risk.

Thanks for the response. I am still going to make an appointment with a urologist and bring a copy of the original ultrasound report and films. Would it be a good idea to ask for the blood tests as well as an added measure?

Also I know there are different types of TC but how fast do they typically progress?

      Thanks

        Growth rate

My tumor was expected to double in size each week!

        Please do not hesitate.

I made the Urological appt on Friday. Went to Urologist the following Tuesday and had the cancerous testicle removed on Wednesday. The time matters!

When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.
