If the ultrasound shows a solid mass in the testicle, it needs to come out. Don't panic too much, though, you're in good company here.
Be sure to read up at the Testicular Cancer Resource Center, especially about the orchiectomy and questions for your doctor, so you'll be prepared for your urologist visit.Scott, [email protected]

Newbe,
I didn't have any pain near the waistline like you are describing, I had noticed a lump on my right teste. Everyone is a little different.
You have already had the ultrasound, which is good. The urologist will likely review the radioligist's report, and then study the actual films as well. Then you will be examined- this is going to be easy stuff tomorrow. You will know more after speaking with the Urologist, but you should know that the cure rate for TC is something like 98%! This is a highly treatable disease, often times without the need for chemo. A lot of men are cured simply by the orchiectomy, (which didn't slow me down whatsoever- still have a great sex drive).
Try not to worry tonight, just deal with the facts tomorrow.
Good luck,

how long?
Will anyone share their experience of how long it took them to get back to work or whatever they do after their surgery to remove a testicle. I have a desk job where I am seated all day and really cant miss that much time from work maybe a couple days? Has anyone been back to work that soon after the surgery? I hear its only about an hour surgery and same day release is that true as well?

I had my orchiectomy on a Thursday and was back at work (though still sore) the following Tuesday. I, too, was in the hospital early in the morning and home before lunch.Scott, [email protected]

I had my I/O on a Friday, and took a week off- but that's because I'm lazy, and can work from home. Ice pack for the first 12 to 24 hours, then don't lift anything heavy or do anything vigerous for two weeks maybe...
My incision developed a hard ridge under the skin, felt like a pencil. I thought it was a hernia- I was paging the cover doctor like crazy. It was just the stiches...I did not get an implant because it was not available, and I'm gald I didn't.
You will get through this okay, just let the doctors and nurses do their job.
Your tumor will go to a pathology lab, these will be your longest days waiting for the results. TC is very rare, and many pathologists never even see it- so you may want it read at several labs. (Mine was read at three hospitals, and the first one missed vascular invasion.)
Take it day by day, and remember that this disease is treatable.
