  • Had Prostatitis, Still have Discomfort

I am a 29 year old married man who is faithful to his wife.

About 2-3 months ago, I developed prostatitis, which is the infection of the prostate gland. I contribute the disease to the amount of stress I have in my life. Anyway, I took antibiotics for a month, but the pain in my right testicle and my abdomen remains.

My right testicle now "rides" significantly higher than my left one...all the time. It's also at an odd angle, as if more forward and tilted up. There is a spot in the middle of my abdomen, right at my waistline, that if I press on I feel pain in an area about 2 inches to the right.

I did go to the doctor and he did an exam of my testicles (no ultrasound or xray or anything else) and he said that I didn't have to worry, that it was probably still the soreness from the prostatitis.

So I went home that night and checked myself and I *think* I found the tinyest pinprick of a bump on the left side of my right testicle. I freaked out, but I trusted the doctor.

So for about 2-3 weeks I've switched to a more supported underwear, my jeans aren't so tight, ect. things to make me feel better around there, and it's helped some. But still, there is a constant awareness on my part that there's something not right on the testicle (which is still raised up) and I still have that place on my stomach that's sore.

What should I do? I hate going back into the doctor only to have him give me that same exam and just send me home. I don't have insurance and can't afford to go back time and time again to the doc.

    Help!

    Rabbit:
Give your doctor a call and tell him you found a lump and see if he can't schedule an ultrasound without another office visit. That's the only way to rule out testicular cancer and that lump needs to be checked.

That's a lot of money...my family already thinks I'm a hypochondriac. Can I wait a week until I have insurance coverage?

Besides, I really wanted to know if the testicle riding high is common or uncommon amongst those with testicular cancer...

I dunno, I'm still freaking out about everything.

The testicle riding high is not related to tc. What you want to look for is a bump that feels as if it's part of the testicle itself.

Ok...I think it's still the prostatitis acting up. Thanks for the info.

There's been a lot of similarities between this disease and the symptoms of TC...it's been a very uneasy and trying time for me.

Regardless, I'll post again on what the doc says.

          Thanks again.
