  • Testicle Pain For 13 Months, lost hope?

This might be too long, so if you can't read it all at least skim through the bold parts to make it easier for you. Bare with me guys, just for a bit.

Hi, I have been surfing many forums since I have had problems with my testicles.

Problem: I have had testicle pain both my testicles for the past 13 months, the feeling in my testicle is a mixture of pain and discomfort.

When I sit down for a long period time, the bottom part of my testicle feels like it's heating up and it is really uncomfortable to sit, I usually just block the pain out with my mind.

My testicles feel less pain when I sitting up, like when I am taking a shower, I feel better.

Sometimes the pain is less, sometimes the pain is less, it's like this for me 24/7, if I am not feeling pain in my testicles, then it's discomfort.

    * I have been to doctors, I have seen at least 4 different doctors since last summer. First doctor suggested it might be epididymitis, the pain started to fade, run out of antibiotics, went back to the doctor, got more pills, this time the pain didn't stop, I went back 3rd time, got more antibiotics(more powerful/cipro) failed, the pain didn't increase or decrease.

The other doctors said since the antibiotics failed, it was not an infection, went for ultrasound to check for cancer, results were negative, no signs of cancer.

Another doctor decides maybe the pain is because I played sports, gives me heavy pain killers, but like I predicated at the time, nothing happened, the pain killers didn't do a single thing.

Finally the doctor I went to see a few months ago, told me it was "nothing" I just need to sit bitter, the guy ignored what I told him and thus here I am today hopeless.

I have no where else to go, I have lost faith in the doctors, I don't blame them at all, they don't know everything. I am thinking of going to go see another doctor despite my lost confidence. Sigh, I am 20 years old and before this, my life was at an all-time high, now I am at an all-time low.

If anyone has suggestions it will be greatly appreciated, check out the poll too and tell me what you think.

Don't want to alarm you, but i remember having problems sitting and getting up: that's when it hurted me the most.
On the other hand eleven months is a long time, so... Did you do blood work?
Any other aches (like back pain)?

      Hi, thanks for your reply.

I haven't done any blood work, maybe I should do this? I was just sitting here on my bed and thought maybe I should ask for a cat scan, to my knowledge, cat scans can can located what is causing the pain, or least I hope.

Anyway, i'll research the blood work idea asap.

Ironically, I used to have back aches a few months back and they stopped awhile back. I am thinking it's just coincidence, but I am no doctor/specialist.

Thanks again, if you have more suggestions, I really do appreciate your ideas and comments.

What kind of doctor did you see? Was it a urologist? If not I would suggest you see a urologist.

          Sorry for the late reply.

All but the 1st doctor I saw were Urologists. The first one was a general practitioner, but he was by far the most helpful.

If I really put my mind to it, the pain could actually not be on my "testicles" but more on the bottom skin of the scrotum, not sure if this changes anything but...maybe if I tell them this, they will get a better idea.

            Testicular Pain

This is in reply to LilGuy and the medical conditions he is experiecing. My son (38 yrs.) has had pretty much the same condition for approx. 9 months. He has been to Drs. - an Allergist and was tested for allergies because of the redness he had in his scrotum area, Urologist, & GP. He has had blood work done that has come back fine. He has also been told he does not have Cancer. No one appears to know what THIS condition is. The allergists gave him several creams and lotions to use - we think they did more damage than good. He still has the same pain and discomfort, especially when he sits down. Since his job requires travel - both car and plane, he becomes esp. uncomfortable after these trips. When he stands, he feels much better. A friend of his, whose mother is an ER nurse, told him that a male came into the Emergency Room complaining anout this condition. They found a Dr. who was familiar with this and he told the patient that he had bruised his testicles running. The Dr. told him to wear new running pants for support, but only wear them when he runs. My son said he mostly wears boxers, so we tried briefs to see if they would make a difference and he stopped running. He now has some good days (for the first time in a long time) but still has some bad ones. We can't figure out what is causing this condition.

I would like to appeal to any Dr. who reads this posting, to please reply with an answer for us. It is very troubling to think that there is no medical professional who can help us. Help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

              Back Pain

              Hey guys,

Not sure what sort of diagnostic tests you've had and I'm not a doctor. However, I was told that back pain is a classic sign of TC. Also, if you haven't had an ultrasound done on the testicles that might be a very good starting point. Finally, you may need to see someone who is an "expert" in TC. Depending on where you live, I'm sure you can get plenty of referrals in this forum.

              Good luck and be well,
              Steven

                Testicular Pain

Thanks Steven for the reply. My son has had an ultra sound, as well as, a cat scan and NOTHING shows up! He just got back from Fla and, of course, he's experiencing that pain and discomfort again due to the flight. (seating)

One Dr. has suggested that possibly he has some small kidney stones because of the pain. But, the pain has been consistent and another Dr. feels it is highly unlikely this is the problem. So we're back to where we were...

I guess if nothing shows up on the scans and the ultra-sound, hopefully its nothing too serious. Don't give up hope and something will turn up. Maybe its time to try a different doctor/discipline (perhaps rheumatology?). In the end, it was a rheumatologist who found the source of my back pain.

                  Good luck,
                  Steven

                    Testicular Pain

He has gone to a Urologist 2X and is planning on going to a new one in May, if things haven't improved. The awful part is that one Dr. pretty much kicked him out of the office and told him to go back to his first Dr. (Dermatologist).
Another Dr. (Urologist) implied it was all in his head and made him feel embarrassed for going into the office.

The Dr.s my son has gone to are in the NY/NJ area and are considered quite competent.

                    This condition is quite puzzling!

Usually an ultrasound is pretty definitive so if your doctor says it is clean that is good. Testicular Cancer is a fast spreading cancer and in my non-medical opinion it is unlikely that the doctors have not detected it for 13 months. You should get blood work done and have them check for tumor markers. The CT Scan could be a good additional check to really confirm you don't have it and give you peace of mind.

You may want to consider going to Memorial Sloan Kettering since you are in the NYC area. They are a center of excellence for Testicular Cancer and have the best doctors to diagnose if it is cancer.

Best wishes to both of you and I sincerely hope it is not cancer.
