  • Left Testicle/Lower Abdomen Pain

    Hi Everyone,

I've been doing some reading of this forum and am very impressed with how helpful everyone seems to be. I was hoping you guys could give me some thoughts on my situation.

About a week and a half ago i developled pain in my left testicle. The pain would be worse in the morning after i woke up and generally faded during the day. I didnt think too much of it until 6 days ago i also developed pain in my lower left abdomen. This pain was also generally worse in the morning/when i lyed down. I went to my GP and he examed my testicles but could find nothing unusual and prescribed me some antibiotics. After 5 days it was clear the antibiotics were doing nothing. During this time and numerous self exams i noticed a tiny node attached to the epididymis by what seemed to be a veiny cord. So I went back to my GP who again felt around said he couldnt find anything unusual and as he had no idea what is causing the pain (which is now pretty much focused in the lower abdomen), he ordered blood/urine tests and booked me for an ultrasound early next week.

That brings us to present time. I have yet to hear back the blood/urine tests and I am currently just trying to keep myself calm. Does this sound like it could be TC to you guys? I've read posts on other message boards of people whom have similar nodes attached to the epididymis or cyst's of the epididymis but no one ever seems to experience the same pain as myself, and certainly not with a node about half the size of a grain of rice.

Basically I'm looking to hear any thoughts/advice you guys might have. Thanks. And again, its nice to find a forum where everyone is trying to be helpful.

It sounds like a problem with the epididymis. It could be an infection, cyst or irritation. I wouldn't worry too much but see if you can get checked by a urologist. For it to be tc the lump would need to be part of the testicle. Good luck and let us know what the doctor has to say.

Thanks for your input. is it normal for an infection of the epididymis to not respond well to antibiotics?

An infection should respond to antibiotics. Did you do anything that may have irritated it? I had a problem within the last month (first of this type ever) it was caused by an improperly adjusted bicycle seat. If the pain persists go to a urologist, you shouldn’t have to go around with pain in that area.

The pain may also be associated with you messing around with the abnormality you feel. I know I had pain when I spent a lot of time messing around with the abnormality I found, but when I left it alone the pain subsided. All the reading I have done has told me that TC can't form on the epididymus, so it is likely to be something else. The ultrasound will let you know for sure. I know as well as anyone that it is hard to relax, no matter what people tell you, but feel comfort in the fact that the ultrasound will let you know what's up.
