I discovered a lump about five years ago and immediately had it checked by my GP and also had an ultrasound. At the time, they ruled out TC and indicated that it was a cyst. The lump is still present. My question is: how accurate and fail proof is an ultrasound?

I ask because I am currently having a dull pain in my lower back, coupled with some abdominal/groin pain. Not sure if it's all interconnected, but I have noticed that my sex drive has decreased almost to being non-existent, too.

My doc prescribed Cipro and didnt seem to work.

I just got blood work done to check everything out, and the results so far seem to be normal. I am 26 and usually have a clean bill of health.

I have an appt. with my urologist in about 2 weeks. This stuff is frustrating, to say the least!!!

    Thoughts?

Ultrasounds are very reliable but a lot can happen in 5 years. Your doing the right thing getting checked. Did you tell the urologist that you are in pain?

It is definitely a frustrating situation, but going to the urologist will answer a lot of your questions.

Not to get you worried, but "normal" is a relative term in reference to blood work when dealing with the possibility of TC. The seminoma type of TC usually isn't visible through blood work. Don't let normal blood work stop you from getting checked out.

      Good luck man!

Havent seen the urologist yet -- only my GP. When I saw my last GP early last year, he didnt seem too concerned about the cyst. But it seems like my last GP and my current one have a casual attitude and are not taking my symptoms seriously.

Chances are very small that you will have tc but don't let the doctor's get complacent because you had good scans in the past.

I'm definatelty going to push my urologist to conduct another test. although TC is rare, it seems like an annual screening for the high risk age group is necessay from a prevention standpoint. Much like they do for women and the papsmere test.

I know I'm a rare form of TC...but I've had a few ultrasounds and not one has shown any abnormality on either testicle. In fact...going back to my original diagnosis...the docs first ruled out TC and thought I had a lymphoma. Bloodwork and a biopsy brought the diganosis back to TC.

I say this because my original symptom was lower back pain for about a month straight. The cancer had spread to my lymph nodes in the lower back...thus the back pain.

Again...I'm a rare form of TC...but I can relate somewhat to what you have described. Hope I didn't confuse you at all.
