  • Symptom Question

    First post here.
I guess I am wondering if anybody has had similar symptoms to mine. It started with just very minor swelling so little that I thought that maybe it was just in my head. But in the past week I have a constant dull pain in my right and it has swelled to nearly 1.5 times the left and it is very painful to touch. No lumps to be found just swelling and pain.
I know I need to get this checked out and I am scheduling an appointment with my urologist. I just wanted to know if these could be consider "typical" symptoms (if there is such a thing as typical symtoms) of TC?

    Regards,

    Hey Eze,
Symptoms vary quite a bit from person to person. Some people feel a lump, and in others there is a change in "consistency" of the testis (i.e. it gets very hard and either shrinks or swells). Some feel a dull ache, while in others it is completely painless. Irrespective of this, you are doing a good thing by paying a visit to your urologist. Chances are your urologist might order an ultrasound to rule out the existence of masses that shouldn't be there. Hopefully you can get an appointment promptly so you can get this taken care of soon.

I agree with Fed about an ultrasound. Your situation sounds a lot like mine in the beginning. It may turn out not to be cancer -- it could be a hydrocele, for example -- but play it safe.

Thanks for the responses. I called my urologist's office today, the same who performed my vasectomy, to set up an appointment. The lady who answered quickly transfered me to a nurse after I told her my symptoms. The nurse set me up an appointment for today at 3:00 rather than what the next offical appointment would have been (monday). I really am happy that they are going to squeeze me in, but that urgency(sp?) to get me in has got me kinda stressed.

That is awesome they got you in for today. When I went to my school doctor with my symptoms he had me at the urologist getting an ultrasound within 2 hours. The urgency is a bit stressful, but by tonight you will have some answers. I was MUCH more comfortable hearing "the testicle needs to come out tomorrow" than "well it's either an infection or cancer.....come back in three weeks." To me, being left to wonder was far worse than the diagnosis.
