Casper, I know avoidance behavior when I see it!! You have to get this cheked out by a doc or you will drive yourself crazy. Shining a light is no longer done...ultrasounds are. Bobby brings up an excellent point about the calcium deposits (micro calcifications). Another finding can be a hydrocele....innocent by itself, but sometimes formed in response to a tumor. We can't diagnose you and can't tell you with certainty that it's nothing to worry about. Please make an appointment and check this out.

You probably won't find much info about the rate at which TC spreads, because it is different for everyone, and also different by the type of TC: for example, nonseminoma TC normally spreads faster than seminoma TC. I don't know the exact numbers, but I've read that TC can go from stage 1 to stage 3 in a matter of a few weeks to a few months......it depends on the person. It is a relatively fast growing cancer.

I have to be careful about the way I answer you question about "changes over time." I had a BB sized lump on the top of my left testicle for 7 or 8 years that was definitely attached to the testicle (not the cord) and never changed. I worried for many years that it was TC, but I never did anything to get checked. When I felt a change in a different part of that testicle, my ultrasound showed that the lump I had been feeling for all that time was a calcium deposit, which is harmless by itself. Studies show, though, that there is a POTENTIAL connection (not definite) between calcium of the testicles and development of TC. Were the two connected in me? I don't know........the testicle with the calcium is the same one that got TC, but there isn't enough info to show they are connected.

The point of that story is that if it hasn't changed in 8 years, that is a good sign that it may be a cyst or something benign, but an ultrasound is the only way to know for sure. It can also help to let you know if you should be extra vigilant in your TC self checks (such as if calcium is found).

Thank you fuse929, sorry to hear about you TC, hope you & everyone else conquer it, it's great to have a site like this. What we do before the internet!

If somehow, it was TC, wouldn't i have noticed changes int he last 8 years i've had this? I can't seem to find info on how long it takes to spread or any related stuff, i find this stuff very interesting & would like to read up on it.

Is it a good sign if light passes through the lump? I've just used a light source & the light went straight through it.

Many people obtain testicular abnormalities during their life, but only about 1 in 300 men will get testicular cancer in their life. TC is very rare, and chances are you don't have it, but if you feel something weird you should get it checked out. It is impossible to diagnosis yourself with any testicular disease, believe me I tried.

It sounds like you may have am epididymal cyst. Not to get you worried, but two doctors preemptively diagnosed me with an epididymal cyst, but my ultrasound showed a testicular mass which ended up to be cancer. You never know until you get checked.

When i was about 13/14 i remember a friend telling me he had found a lump in he's testicle & said it'd be something i'd have to go through at one point? And off course, i did/am going through that. Was that a wild guess or does it effect a large group of males?

Cheers, Casper, and welcome to the forum. If it's not on the testicle it's not TC. Sounds like it's possibly an epididymal cyst. The site below may give you additional info on what is normal and what is not. You answered your own question...if it's causing you discomfort you should see a doctor. Peace of mind is priceless. So if it's not actually on or in the testicle but floating around via the cord, it's not TC but i should go see someone if it's causing problems?
What is the actual lump called as i've searched around & the shape is similar to the spermatocele, small oval shape pea.

I'm new here, from London.

Seems like a great forum you have here, very helpful to have places like this.

I'm here because i'm curious about a lump in my right testicle. I've had it since i was 14 & i'm now 21. It's about the same size as a pea & has stayed the same size since i first noticed it. There's no pain just slight aches from time to time (Usually the aching occurs when i've been sexually active)

The lump isn't actually on the testicle, it's at the top & moves around freely but it feels like it's connected to the testicle by some sort of spermatic cord, i'm able to fit fit my thumb & forefinger between the lump & testicle. On the opposite end it feels as tho it's attached to Epididymis by some sort of cord.

I know my best bet is to see a doctor but i wanted to know if it sounds familiar to anyone or if it sounds like something?
