  • me again.

after the docs i went to the ultrasound clinic and gave them the slip that the docs gave me and they said i will get a letter about an appointment, well i cant think of anything else so i went back today and asked how long they think it will be untill i can have a test, they said 6 weeks!!! surely if it was serious it could spread or get worse in that time right? what shall i do?

    worried,

    Ryan,

I think 6 weeks is too long to wait. I am not sure where you live but maybe we could help you.

A scrotal ultrasound takes less than 20 minutes. Unless there is something I am missing, there is no reason they can't squeeze you in sooner for something as serious as potential testicular cancer. I would call and bug them until they move it up, or if you want to get really proactive, go to the emergency room complaining about serious pain so they are almost forced to give you an ultrasound right then and there.

Ahhh, Fish, we have another member of the club!!!!

Exactly....go in complaining of severe pain. Moan, hunch over, whatever it takes. Just get the US done. Six weeks for an US is unacceptable.

I'm not thrilled with that but 10 days isn't bad.

I'll follow the lead of others and insist that you go to the ER. I guarantee you that if you go to the front desk and complain of testicular pain (rather loudly), they'll see you ASAP; they did in my case.

                      Ryan:
Are you still in pain? Even if it isn't tc you need to get the discomfort issue resolved. Just don't miss the ultrasound appointment.

Before my ultrasound my urologist (and my school doctor for that matter) assured me that all I had was a cyst, and he told me it was definitely not testicular cancer. 30 minutes later when he had my ultrasound results in his hand he was singing another tune......I believe his exact words were "well, that's odd....maybe you are on to something here." It's good to relax a little bit, but definitely don't forget about the ultrasound.

My sons pain and swelling were passed off as epidymitis, and a small lump they found on the ultrasound was passed off as a "tiny hematoma, usually due to injury"

He was treated with antibiotics, and went to the doctor weekly to see if it was getting better. After about 6 weeks the whole testicle was rock solid, and a urologist confirmed he had cancer.

I hate to make anyone feel afraid, but I'd much rather make sure people are aware of how TC sometimes gets passed off for other problems until it gets worse. Actually, this happens too often.

Ultrasound is a must, and if symptoms that are expected to get better, do not.. Be very aggressive in getting to an urologist to get to the bottom of it.

                          TC spreads very fast

Ryan, I dont want to upset you but our story is,my son had swelling in testicle while on vacation in Greece. went to a clinic HAD ULTRASOUND, 2 docs and 1 radiologist, educated in the UK said epidymitis, they even xed the area on the ultrasound.Gave him massive doses of antibiotics. By august 28 back in the US on august 29 another ultrasound and surgery next day. the radiologist and doc here said, how did they miss this one? Insist on the ultrasound. Double over and yell!!! VWM
