    Hi

My name is Dave. I am a disabled firefighter (Captain). I have a brain/spinal cord injury that I suffered while in the ICU of the hospital eight years ago. Basically a doctor messed up in treating me and now I am a quadriplegic. The bastard got away with murder. My diagnosis is known as critical care neuropathy, I suffered a hypothermic event, high fever of 107 which caused brain and spinal cord damage.

I am here because my left testicle is hard and about five times normal size. Ther's a little pain associated with it sometimes. Is this cancer? I am terrified!

You need to see a urologist and have it checked out immediately. How long has it been this enlarged?

      Capt:
With swelling being the only symptom we can really tell anything but cancer or not that needs to get checked now.

As Scott and Dadmo said, this needs to be checked out ASAP. Hopefully it's not TC, but until you have it evaluated it's impossible to know for sure.

        Keep us updated.

The tool most doctors use to check for testicular cancer is an ultrasound, which is a painless and relatively quick procedure. I realize with your other condition it may be difficult to get to a doctors office, but an ultrasound will give you a very good idea what is going on down there.

                Captain Dave,

I don't mean to scare you, but please do NOT wait until oct 16 to have this checked.
Demand an appointment immediately, or go to the ER.

If this is TC, it can spread rapidly.

I can't stress this enough .. get it checked now because if it is TC it is much easier to treat when it is caught in its early stage.

Please let us know what you find out.

                God Bless

                Tammy

due to the size of your testicle, it sounds like it could be a hernia...in any case, please get it checked ASAP and let us know.

I agree with Tammy. That is a long time to wait if you are presenting symptoms of TC. Going to the ER complaining about extreme pain should get you in quicker.

I am going to urologist tomorrow @ 10. I don't think it's a hernia since I can't walk (I'm a quadriplegic) and don't do anything strenuous. I should have demanded an earlier appointment, and my only excuse is fear. I have had a rough time these past 8 years, a doctor is the reason I am paralyzed.

A little more about my disability, I have a brain/spinal cord injury/damage. I had a fever of 107.9 F (Brain damage from a fever generally will not occur unless the fever is over 105.6°F) and the doctors believe that is what caused my injury. This "Hyperthermia" incident happened sometime in August 1999.

Up until my surgery/injury in August 1999, I was extremely active in the fire service. I took every class I could and eventually rose through the ranks to Captain in 1997. I also ran the department’s training program and safety program.
