  • what is a biopsy?

i got my ultrasound report and it strongly suggests i have a very large epidermoid cyst since there is no blood flow at all. also said it looked neoplastic. however, they suggested a biopsy. what is a biopsy? are they gonna cut my belly to get to my testicle? do i lose the testicle? how are cysts generally treated? thanks.

a biopsy is the removal of a small amount of tissue to test for infection and disease. When they do a testiclular biopsy they will generally make a very smal incision in the sack and remove a few small pieces of tissue to test. Usually cysts are not removed . I have heard of some cases were the cysts are drained. The only way you would lose the testicle is if they find something cancerous or that could become cancerous in the future. It sounds like you will be just fine !!!! Best of Luck DON
