Is it possible to get a girl pregnant if you have testicular cancer
that hasnt been treated yet? Also,is it possible that the baby
will be born with birth defects?

Hi,

Having TC doesnt necessarily make you infertile, so yes, it would be possible. The only way to know for sure in an individual case would be to get a doctor to run some tests. To be safe use protection unless youre looking to have a kid.

I dont really know about birth defects, but I wouldnt have thought so. I was advised to not rush into having children during/after chemo, but I dont know of any issues you would have before any treatment. Probably best to check with a doctor if you are concerned though.

There's no risk of birth defects with conception before treatment and depending on the treatment, there's a very good chance of being able to father a child after treatment as well.

If the treatment consists of chemo, then it's a good idea to wait as Steve mentioned. But I've seen examples of people having a child not too long after chemo with no problems whatsoever.

There is, however, evidence that people with TC usually have lower fertility than the "normal" population, but that includes pre-treatment. I think getting a fertility test is the way to go.
