Another mark in the "I went to the doctor, and I'm so glad I did!" column. Congratulations, Greg.

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to update everyone. I had an appt with my doctor this morning and an ultrascan later in the morning. I just spoke with my doctor and what I believed was Cancer turned out to be two different types of cysts, both Benign. I was so relieved. I still need to deal with them but neither are serious and I can deal with them at my convenience.

On another note, I would like to thank everyone for all of their input. I think it is truely admirable that all of you are able to speak to people like me about this. It makes it easier to talk to someone who has been through it.

Thank you for everything everyone and goodluck to you all

    All the best,

    Greg

Thanks for your input everyone. Just for an update. I talked to my mom about it last night. She did not seem too concerned. She is talking to her doctor today and trying to get me an appointment today or tomorrow. I guess it just feels better that it is out there and im not hiding it anymore..

    Thanks again

Is there ever a good time to have an illness or disease??? Your doing the right thing nipping it in the bud right away... Chances are it is a cyst and you be able to get this monket offf your back... I would insist on the Ultrasound just to be positive... The test only takes 30 minutes or less..... Best of luck Greg!!!!!

I agree with Brian that you need to talk to your doctor about it again, though chances are good that it really is a cyst. I wouldn't spend time worrying about what might happen if it were cancer.

    Welcome
You are doing the right thing when you go to the doctor you need to make sure that they address the issue. If you have a lump and it hasn't gone away I would think they need to send you for a ultrasound to see what it is. If you don't get the answers to your questions you will need to see a URO since that is their area and they know what is normal and what isn't.
Don't get too worried but this is something that needs to be addressed I would try to get in sooner if you can tell them you found a lump and need to the doctor to review it they should get you in ASAP.
Here is a link to questions that you should ask your doctor http://www.tc-cancer.com/askdoctor.html
By the way tell your Mom trust me she will get the answers that you need from the doctor if you can't doctors don't want a mad Mom on their hands!!!!!!
    Good Luck

started a topic Im concerned and dont kno where to turn

Im concerned and dont kno where to turn

My name is Greg and im 19. Last year i went to a physical and the doctor found a lump but he told me it was just a cyst and said it would be fine. Here I am a year later and its still there. It kind of aches sometimes but doesnt look swollen or anything. I have never told my mom about it at all because I am scared she will over react. Besides aching, there doesnt appear to be any symptoms, but maybe I am ignoring them, i dont know.

I have a physical scheduled for next wednesday as a customary physical so i can go back to college.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice? I cant get it off my mind and Im so worried. I dont have time for this in my life. I go back to school on the 6th over an hour away. What if it is cancer? Will I have to take a year off from school?

Working...
