Hey there- After a scary year we are reevaluating some financial plans and looking into better life insurance. Since we have a family of 5, a large mortgage and husband who is a cancer survivor and sole provider for the family we are having a hard time finding large coverage that is affordable......Anyone have some companies they would recommend? Thanks!

He couldn’t you could always look into joining the army national guard. It’s an obligation which will take omes time away, but it’s another retirement which offers great beinfits such as cheap health and dental insurance with great coverage and a $450k life insurance policy through prudential for $29 a month.....
It’s an option on the table.

With his cancer being so recent it will be very hard to find him affordable life insurance. Another avenue to look at his with credit unions. Alot of times they dont ask you medical questions but the policy and prices are set at a group rate for the credit union.

Not sure if you will be able to obtain any this close to diagnosis. But maybe, since it was stage 1?
Either way, based on my experience it probably will not be "affordable", if you are looking for rates in the ballpark of a healthy person.
I was able to obtain a 20 year 500k term policy through Prudential 2 years out of treatment (last fall - we built a new house and my existing life ins. wasn't enough). Its $500/month until 2020, when it drops to $90/month. My insurance guy said that more providers and options should open up for cheaper at 3 years all clear. I can't wait till then, its a ****load of money, but its also major peace of mind that if I leave this earth my wife and 3 kids will have zero mortgage and a good net to land on.6/5/15: bHCG 27,AFP 8.66, LDH 361, 5.6cm lymph node - Stage IIC
6/16/15: Left I/O 85% EC, 10% chorio, 5% yolk sac opinion 2 (mayo) 90% EC, 10% yolk sac
7/7/15: bHCG 56, AFP 42, LDH 322
7/13/15: begin 4xEP, end 9/18/15
10/1/15: bloodwork normal, ct scan shows 2 lymph nodes 1.0cm
10/26/15: 2nd opinion on CT results - lymph nodes normal. Surveillance!
4/6/16: 1.7cm X 1.5cm lymph node found with markers normal.
4/20/16: RPLND @ IU - teratoma only!
10/22/19: all clears up to this date!

Try multiple approaches to this problem. 1st would be insurance on the mortgage only, either of you pass it pays the mortgage off. Then term life insurance on both. That's how we approached this. when I'm 66 I'll not have life insurance any longer.
