  • Dismayed by the Advert on This Site

I usually take time to read the adverts on any site like this, as they are I believe helping to fund this site.

However, I find the one for cancertruth.net just plain offensive.

Quotes like "There is not one, but many cures for cancer. But they are all being systematically suppressed by the ACS, the NCI, and the major oncology centers. They have too much of an interest in the status quo"

"No medical doctor (who uses chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgery) has ever administered a synthetic drug or done a medical procedure that stopped the spread of cancer. That is not what they do"

I find this bile offensive, and I don't believe should be prominent on this site. These books are "pushed" to people at there wits end, who may be desperate for a cure, when they have exhausted all other means - hence these adverts appear on site like this.

A cheap and offensive way of making a few dollars.

I have to admit that I don't read the adds that run on this site. I guess from now I will have to pay attention to that detail. From my understanding it is those adds that fund the running of this site but I would rather come up with cash from my pocket then have anything like you described run on this page.

Hi Guys - you are right, the Ad's so pay for the server (fund the site) and you are also right, that sometimes the Ad's the come into play are "no good". Google Ad's are automated feeds based off content so no single person feeds the Ad's but they are scored and fed automatically. As such sometimes these things happen.

The good news is, I am able to add sites to the "bad list" and once added, they will be banned from showing. So I do invite and encourage ALL users to review the AD's and please please please let me know if a instance like this comes up. I review daily but sometimes miss - so your help is appreciated!

I am adding this site in question as we speak. Thanks again for your understanding and assistance!

To clarify I was of course referring to the authors of this book.

          Davie:
I understood it the way it was intended, and I really do have to start looking at the adds that are run.

Yes - I understood that as well. No problem. Please do post here or let Scott, Dadmo, Rune or myself know if you find ANY Ad's that should be gotten rid of.

              I Agree!

I ran into that ad here as well... I clicked it off as soon as I started reading it. The statements it makes are idiotic at best, damaging at worst... thank James for dealing with it!

I am going to create a new post and make it a "sticky". I do ask that everyone assist in keeping an eye on it. I am going to "subscribe" to this new thread in this forum about "Bad Ad Reporting" so I will get an email immediately when a post comes thru. Just post the URL and quick explanation of bad sites that we do not need to display on our beautiful website full of beautiful people. Everyones help in checking as much as possible is greatly appreciate. We want good quality AD's only to serve our community. This way they are helpful and keep the site going from the financial side. I much rather keep AD's then accept any donations (which all donation links have been gone for a while now).

                  Will Do

I really never thought about it, but since you brought it up, I'll make a point of clicking on them next time. Doing that will probably improve the click through stats as well :-)
