A great public awareness video will play before the game (wrong file extension to upload here, sorry!). I just hope the Mets aren't too wiped out from a sweep by the Yankees to play well !! Only a week to go until our TC Awareness Day at Shea Stadium! Ticket sales have surpassed 225, and we are looking forward to a terrific night of baseball in support of testicular cancer awareness on June 23rd. There is still time to get tickets, but please place your order today!

I want to give you a ‘sneak preview’ of the public service announcement that will be broadcast on the Stadium’s Diamond Vision screen just before the start of the game. We are grateful to CW11 and the NY Mets for helping us present this important message to the 50,000+ fans that will be in attendance.

The event was a lot of fun! Absoultely perfect weather for a game. We were in the bleachers under the big screen in our own section so there was plenty of elbow room and a really nice group of people. My Yankee-fanatic daughter even shouted "Lets go Mets!" at one point...then hung her head in shame for betraying Derek Jeter

this e-mail just came in from Steve Carey:

Many of you have been wondering how our Testicular Cancer Awareness Day with the NY Mets went on Saturday. I am happy to report that it was FANTASTIC!!!

Over 225 supporters came to the stadium Saturday (and fought through some truly horrendous traffic!) to show their support for the cause and to honor Sean. It was truly a special night. Just before the game, members of the Foundation, special friends and TC survivors gathered on the field to be saluted in front of 55,000 fans and receive a Mets Spirit Award. NY Met and TC survivor Scott Schoeneweis came onto the field to personally thank us for our efforts in getting the word out. Our special PSA message featuring CW11 News at 10 Anchor Jim Watkins urging TC awareness was played on the Stadium’s Diamond Vision screen for all to see. And to cap it off, David Wright drove in the winning (and only) run in the bottom of ninth, preventing extra innings and allowing time for CW11 to include a great showcase piece as part of their newscast.

As you know, the whole purpose of the Foundation is to get the word out about the dangers of testicular cancer and the need for self examination. If the life of even ONE person is saved through our efforts, then we are accomplishing our mission. I think we were able to get the word out, in spades. Our message reached millions of people.

Here is just a partial listing of the attention we received:

-On Friday, the CW11 morning show featured a segment with Scott Schoeneweis discussing testicular cancer.
-On Friday evening, Sports New York (SNY) the Mets broadcast partners, interviewed Scott Schoeneweis during their pre-game show where he discussed testicular cancer, his experience, the importance of early detection and the TC Awareness Day with the Foundation the next day.
-During the 5th inning of the game, SNY announcer Gary Cohen spent about 2 minutes discussing Sean, the Foundation and the TC Awareness Day to the broadcast audience, showing footage of the pre-game salute and a shot of our banner and supporters in the bleachers!
-Bruce Beck, weekend sports anchor at WNBC did a wonderful segment during his show on Saturday evening on Sean and commending the work of the Foundation. He referred to Sean as a friend and colleague, showed footage of some of Sean’s shows, and included coverage of our salute at Shea and an interview with me.
-News 12 Westchester ran a story on Sean, the pre-game ceremony and interview clips of several of our survivors and myself.
-WCBS radio taped an interview with me that ran throughout the day on Saturday.
-WFAN taped a 15 minute interview that aired on their public affairs show Sunday morning at 8 am.
-The Journal News in Westchester County ran a nice story on Saturday.
-the NY Daily News mentioned the event in their Sunday sports section.
-The NY Post mentioned the event in the Rumble section of the paper.


This is in addition to the print ads that ran in Newsday and the NY Observer and the PSAs that ran on WFAN, JackFM, and CW11 prior to the game.

I will forward clips of the various coverage just as soon as I get them – I hope you will be as pleased with the results as I am.
