Sperm Banking Initiative survey for the guys

Lindsay Nohr Beck, founder of Fertile Hope, was on the Today Show this morning. She was 24 years old when she was diagnosed with tongue cancer. She underwent surgery, radiation and chemo. Her doctors were there to treat her cancer but they didn't have any answers or recommendations when it came to fertility. She felt she could fight cancer and survive, but her main goal in life was to be a mother. She even thought of suspending treatment if it would render her sterile. She did all the investigation on her own and ended up freezing her eggs. Much to her surprise became pregant without using any fertility means. This new initiative on the part of Fertile Hope continues her effort to see that cancer survivors do not lose all of their options to becoming parents. Dianne

The Sean Kimmerling Testicular Cancer Foundation, as a member of the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance, received a request for feedback on a new sperm bank initiative from Fertile Hope. This is a kit that would allow collection in the privacy of your own home. Below is an e-mail with a link to an online survey. If you are interested and would like to help, I know they would appreciate your input.

Dear LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance Member,

Fertile Hope is launching a new program to increase access to sperm banking for cancer patients. Through a special sperm banking kit, patients can make their deposit at home or the hospital and send the specimen overnight mail to the sperm bank.

A few months ago, I asked for help choosing a name. Now, we need help choosing a design for the kit. Sperm banking can be an embarrassing or uncomfortable experience for young men. So, the kit needs to be something that guys will feel comfortable requesting, carrying around the hospital, or taking to their homes.

Please take a few minutes to send around a link for our online survey. We are looking for people who meet the following demographics to fill out the survey:

Men under the age of 45

OR

Oncology Healthcare Professionals
