  • Bailing Out of this Forum!

I had posted a reply to Jimmy's request (http://www.tc-cancer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3369) here. This reply was shortly afterwards deleted by moderators w/o any prior communications to me whatsoever.

And while my response might not comply with these particular moderators views of their respective society, neither does TC. That's the beauty of TC: we are all equal, unless we are Iraqi or don't have health insurance in America.

    Now, delete this, too, please!

P.S.: Best wishes to everyone. I will continue to read and individually support. But certainly will withdraw otherwise.

There is no beauty in TC and it most certainly does not treat everyone the same. If it did why would the Danes have a higher rate then anyone else and people of African origin the lowest? What's with the Iraqi comment?

Any time that someone posts a thread and/or remark that could or does offend another member of this forum, I along with the other moderators and adminastrators of this web-site can and will delete that thread or post every time.. This forum is mainly for support and sharing personal experiences and information to those that are worried about being diagnosed with, have been diagnosed with , being treated for, or living with the after math of Testicular Cancer. Every now and again we crack some jokes and fool around all in good fun.. WE felt your post was along the lines of "kicking a dog when it's down". If someone responded to one of your post's in that manner I would delete it also.. Sorry if you don't like the fact that I deleted your post but if I didn't then some else would have...

I just would suggest you re-post my post and let everyone else be the judge. Then, after a few days, if everyone else is as outraged: take it down again!

And no, it was not aimed at Jimmy, but it's a fact: rather not go shop around your health history!

Don, Dadmo: I apologize, but I don't take well to "Blockwarts"; my people have been there done that. Information is power: even if YOU disagree.

Oh, boy. I've got mixed feelings about this one.

I'd rather restore Matthias' original post, which I read as social commentary rather than a personal jab. We don't all have to agree, and I do think we gain from allowing different perspectives.

Well, guys, I started to respond to Jimmy Dean's post, typed it all out and then decided not the send it because I didn't want Jimmy Dean to get in a funk. Having worked as a legal administrator for 20 years with HR my responsibility, I know the law and I know the reality. Actually, what Matthias said (not the social commentary) is true. Employers don't want to invest money in people who they think won't stick around. Having said that, however, that does imply that it is only for health reasons, but also for many other reasons, e.g. overqualification; two many job changes; not qualified; too young, too old, etc. The other problem that scares employers is the impact on health insurance premiums. At our company, in five years, our health care costs are going to be greater than our payroll!!! Employers do not want to buy a healthcare problem. If you have two qualified candidates, one who had cancer and the other who didn't, who do you think the employer is going to choose? Also, what happens if there is a reoccurrence, who is going to do that person's job? That is why you should not disclose your illness; the potential employer should be blind to this so there isn't a prejudice. The other problem I had with JD's post is what is his former employer going to say when someone calls for a reference? What is their company policy? Are they going to say that JD left because he was under treatment for cancer? Our policy is that we only confirm dates of employment and title, nothing else. It is very difficult for an employer to see a year off on a resume or application and not ask WHY. Even though you would be taking a risk, is there a family business that you could have worked at for the last year? To help an uncle out in the restuarant business? Matthias, you are incredibly cynical and it sounds like you really hate living in the US. We are a capitalistic country, not a socialistic country, or a communist country. Your comments sometimes are on point, but a little too caustic. I would miss you on the forum, can you soften yourself up a bit or is that too much of a compromise? Dianne
