Why did YOU get testicular cancer?

The answer is, you don't know... However, there might be reasons you may suspect. I think we should list these reasons...and perhaps establish a pattern. I think that the format should be similar to the "What's your occupation" thread...i.e. add your suspected reasons to the list. If someone has already listed a potential reason, just increase the number next to the reason. Copy and past the below text (bolded) in your post, then make some comments/clarifications below that. My hope is that some patterns may come to light, besides the already known ones such as cryptorchid testicles and such.

I got testicular cancer because:

- I biked 1
- I distance ran 1
- I used tobacco when I was younger 1
- I had a poor diet when I was younger (junk food) 1
- I kept a cell phone in my pants pocket 1
- I may have been exposed to certain chemicals 1
- I received high levels of ionizing radiation (i.e. xrays, CT-scans) 1
- I had a varicocele 1
- I had microlithiasis 1
- I had kidney stones 1

I suspect that the cell phone, and the bad diet, are my top suspects...as well as the number of xrays and CTs I had due to kidney stones...

Had the CT's and Cxr's,but more for diagnosis,staging & follow-up

Doubtful... big link to HPV there, that is known. Nothing is linked to TC for the majority of men affected by it.

I say malnutrition, I would of had germ cell neoplasia pre-puberty, I kept my cell phone in my left pocket for about 5 years. I used to ride my bike like any kid when I was younger, I also had a poor diet ever since I can remember.

But I am putting it down to genetics, I think I got it too young to blame it on anything else.

But to stick with the vengeful Old Testament God line, maybe I got mine because:

• I spent too much time masturbating when I was a Catholic
• I converted from Catholicism to Southern Baptist (but continued masturbating)
• I converted from Southern Baptist to United Methodist (and continued to masturbate)
• I married a United Methodist Minister (umm, yeah, you guessed it)
• I kept shaving/plucking my palms to hide the evidence (although my right forearm was absolutely RIPPED back when I was "in top form")

I don't know where all that came from. Must be all the L-tryptophan from Thanksgiving.

Seriously though, I remember that the 11-year old daughter of a friend of ours asked, "What do you have to do to get cancer DOWN THERE?" And after some rational thinking (which is hard for folks going through hormone spurts), she came to the realization that scheit just happens sometimes. Never a dull moment...
