It sounds like second opinion time to me. Surveillance is certainly an option with no evidance of spread. It should have been discussed if only to tell you why you're not a candidate.

If it's stage I seminoma, statistics say there's an 80% chance you're already cured, so it's worth asking whether surveillance is a good choice for you.

i was offered either the chemo or radio, as a mop up as they say its confined .the option of puerly survailance has never been mentioned , although they say that all scans and tests are clear. do u think survailance would be an option i should push for . as i say i will get the path report on wed, and confirm if its seminoma or non. think i might have it wrong

If you're being offered radiation therapy or carboplatin, it must be seminoma. What markers were elevated? (AFP is never elevated with pure seminoma; hCG may be.) You should get a copy of your pathology report and other test results and make certain.

Yeah, I know. A positive attitude probably doesn't have much effect on the success of treatment and physical recovery, but it sure affects your quality of life.

    HI m8 .
take it one day at a time , try not to get too far ahead of yourself , especially when you say your waiting for the results ( next wednesday ) which will determine your next step -
    stay positive!!
    Cheers T

The numbness may last for several months to a year or more, but it isn't likely to last forever.

Having cancer absolutely has psychological effects. You're a cancer survivor. Seize the day!

started a topic pain in the groin

    pain in the groin

    hi,all
just over five weeks ago i was diagnosed with tc non-semminoma of the left testicle. as most of u are aware the last 5 weeks have been the worst of my life. there are so many questions which go round in ur head that sometimes it feels as if its going to explode. i was wondering if anyone had a problem with getting the feeling back in there groin, the left side is very numb with not much sensation. i'm also concerned about my sex life ,or lack of it in the future . i'm a single guy and fear that this will be detremental to the rest of my life. its very hard at the moment because all i can focus on is the next appointment which is wednesday for test results. next step after that is going to be , hopefully 1 0r 2 cycles of chemo (carboplatin) for a mop up as they call it. any one had this treatment?. it just seems that life at the moment is one appointment followed by another (hope this feeling dissapears)
