  • Tattoo ?

    Hi All

Well,it's down to 10 weeks untill my wedding on Makena beach in Maui.
Most of the details are arranged, and my fiancee and I have talked about getting a tatoo done while there ( both our first ! ) Diane ( my fiance') wants to get a small hibiscus flower on her ankle, and I'm pondering something that has do to with my fight with Cancer. What I WOULD like to do, is F**K Cancer, but don't think Diane would approve..ha-ha. Anyhow something like Livestrong maybe? Any ideas out there for something appropriate ?

    Thanks in Advance !

    Get a weeping orchid...

At least that's what I'm thinking about getting, but I probably won't... since I never really liked tattoos.

Eastern Lettering is beautiful. Whether it is Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. Long before my Cancer, I had injuries which seemed to keep me permanently from my goal. I decided to never give up and got the Korean lettering In Nae, standing for perseverence. Indomitable Spirit is also a good choice. No matter what you decide, take the time to reflect what this perminent mark will mean to you. You are a Survivor. You are a Warrior. Wear a badge of Honor. My two cents.
      Kind Regards,

When my nephew got married, his bride and her sister (maid of honor) had the same Eastern symbol on their back made obvious by their gowns. In fact, all you saw were these tatoos. She had 5 brothers and each walked her partially "down the isle" to a Beetles song. Each of her brothers had the same symbol on their backs (which of course we could not see). It begged the question "what does it mean." It meant "family." Turns out they had a horrible childhood and all they had was each other. When something is not obvious be prepared to answer questions.

            Have fun

            Hey Mikey-

I got four of my tattoos at Atomic Tattoo in Lahaina. If he has not moved back to Oregon yet, Felix is the man there. He does nice work. Also, skin deep has a decent rep. Two of our friends got their tats at skin deep and they came out great. My last one was "conquered cancer" in kanji (asian script). It probably means something like dirty dishwater with my luck, but it only has meaning to me anyhow.

It was actually kind of funny or morbid depending on your sense of humar, but I was toying with the idea of a tattoo over my orchiechtomy scare. I was thinking a testicle with wings and a halo descending to heaven. Good visual if anything!

Hope all is well with you. Enjoy your time down there. I was just out in March visiting friends and family on Maui. Had a great time. Congrats again.
            Jim

I had never thought of getting a tattoo, but now that I have these 5 tattoo dots on my body from the RT, I have actually been considering it. Perhaps it is mid-life crisis, but my thought is after all I've been through, why the heck not?

I mentioned it to my wife a few weeks ago, suggesting we could do it together for our 20th anniversary next year and she looked at me like I was crazy. Guess nothing short of diamonds will do it for her.

You're getting a diamond tattoo? Won't you look like a walnut?

There you go. By wanting a diamond for her anniversary, my wife wants walnuts. Would look funny on her finger, though.

Or, I get a tattoo of a walnut and I can tell people that it is in rememberance of my lost right one .

I have been trying to think of something to get inked on my skin for a few months f cancer did cross my mind but Mom (my Mom, not the Mom on here) and others might not get it like many of us would. Maybe she wouldn't care she is very cool when it comes to real world things .
I tried to search the net for something that would look cool but no luck yet. l
Good luck with the wedding and the tats.

I have the Japanese characters for "cancer survivor" on my back. I hired Eri Takase, a professional calligrapher, to draw them for me, and I'm very pleased with her work. Her web site is here: http://www.stockkanji.com/

dude, here's the perfect tat, great artwork, and shows the warrior spirit

I have a chinese symbol on my left arm, just done in blue. I have a sun with a heart in the middle on the right arm(above the short sleeve line). Sometime soon I'm going to have a cover up done on the chinese symbol......too much to drink THAT day.
