This summer I'm doing a ride across PA for the American Cancer Society. The preliminary route map has been posted here I would love to meet with anyone who happens to be along that route. As the details of the route and our sleeping location become known I will post them.

This week I started my real training for this summers events. When I was in the Caribbean I was swimming a mile+ each morning to get ready for my tri. Tomorrow I'm riding my bike to work 30mi each way. Think of me at 5:15 when I hit the road.

The nicest part of my ride home was when Jason said he wished he was riding with me.

This past weekend Nancy and I took Jason and a nephew for a bike ride. The ride was on top of a hill just outside New Paltz NY. For the most part is was uneventful. When we were leaving I told Nancy that I would ride my bike down the hill and meet her at the bottom. Now I will admit the hill was quite steep and amazingly long. Nancy told me to be careful because when I’m going down hill I act like I’m 12. I told her “Nancy I’m always careful” her reply was “honey you're always 12”.
I used the excuse that I need to work the hills to get ready for my big ride. Well that was Sunday. Monday I didn’t ride, I had things to do around the house and yard. Tuesday I rode my bike to work (60mi round trip). Last night we had company and I was feeling a bit over whelmed now that the magnitude of riding almost 100mi a day for 6 days is setting in. I was thinking that I need to get to bed early so I could ride in today, I leave the house a 4:45 when I’m on the bike. Just when I was thinking that this ride might be more then I can do one of my favorite Guy Clark songs came on the radio and really got me fired up for today’s ride. Listen up while I sing "The Cape" for you.

Well he's eight years old he's got a flour sack cape tied all around his neck
He's climbing up on top the garage figurin’ what the heck
He screws his courage up so darn tight, that the whole thing come unwound

Thats awesome, Dadmo! Jeez, you must be in great shape to ride that distance everyday, and keep it up you will be even moreso!

I'm starting to feel a bit more confident about this ride. My power to weight ratio is improving and in the last 2 weeks I've ridden 400 miles. Nancy and I are also going to get a matched set (isn't that cute ) of trek 2100's. Sweet.

I took my new Giant Alliance OCR A1 to work today. I was able to knock 25 min. off the ride. I'm sure some of that improvement was because I rode with A picture of Derick Danko (son of Renea Rosson) attached to my shirt.
