    Could Spandex Be Next

5 weeks to go. Last night I got clip ins and tomorrow I'm headed off on a solo 75 mile ride. It's time to start streaching out those distances. I have almost 1500 miles in this spring and a tri that's behind me so I can really focus. Sunday Jason (yup you heard it here first) and I are going for a friendly ride with Mark then next weekend it's off to PA for a 70 miler with some of the other PPRAC riders. The weekend after that I will ride to a friends house (80 miles). Then it's about 10 days of real work and finally it will be here. The two year wait seemed like it would never end and now that it's getting close the time is beginning to fly.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

      Spandex Is in Your Future

I have no doubt you'll be ready, Bill. Determination is part of who you are.

Inspiration abounds. It's been about a year since I've been fully engaged, but Christopher, myself and a few of my old students worked through a class again in my garage tonight. I seem to still remember this stuff although it's a little foggy. Doing a ride tomorrow and a work out with my Son. Sunday another ride with Bill and Jason. Chemo, Schmemo, I'm ready to sweat this crap out.

A Quick Muse from a Friendly Ride

            I rode today with Brothers
            A Family built from pain
I rode to beat the Devil
And with someone who was the same
I think we helped each other
we each had a lot to give
Today I'm not just a Survivor
From now on I think I'll LIVE!

On top of that, you'll live strong. Thanks for your help on the hills yesterday.

I was just out riding with my wife and sons tonight. It is a beautiful night for a bike ride!

A different kind of "all clear." Really, really good to hear!

Just to make sure I don't mislead anybody into thinking I was physically present with Mark and Bill and their families... I was riding back home in New Hampshire, solo (but never alone).

There's no need to thank me. That was probably one of the best days of my life. If Jason was helped by me in any way, then all I can say is he gave just as much back in return (you too). Maybe that's just what we all needed to take those first steps. I'm not sure of the psychology of the whole thing, it just appears to me that's just what Families do (even the Dogs agree you've all been adopted). I wouldn't be surprised if Jason's first step turns into a full blown sprint. He has too much passion for life. I think maybe he just remembered that. Future is wide open, and the sky's the limit.

One of Jason's funny comments on the way home was that from the way we acted you would have thought Lance was a famous drinker.
