    JOTA,
Thanks for the info. The head to toe CT (yes, that's a cat scan) trumps the chest X-ray, so you're OK there. Great news that the scan was all clear!!!

Again, once you sit down with the urologist and get your results, and you do need the bloodwork for markers, your urologist needs to refer you to an oncologist for the next steps. The clean scan is a beautiful thing...congrats on catching it early!

Thus far you should have had pre I/O bloodwork, a CT and a chest X-ray. If you have NOT had the CT and X-ray you need them! You now need post-I/O bloodwork. These are all essential pieces in the diagnosis and treatment steps in conjunction with the pathology, which you may want a second opinion on.

If you have results and can post them here it'll help us provide suggestions. I suggest you ask for and keep copies of all your labs and scan reports, and path report as well.

From this point on you should be under the care of an oncologist.
Going to quote you here so I can be sure to answer all of your questions. It is not my GP that is saying this stuff it is the urologist whom was also the one who did the surgery. I did haver pre blood work and am sure I will have more information about that on Tuesday. CT? Is that a cat scan? If it is a cat scan then yes I have had a head to pelvis cat scan. All they found on there besides the testicle was a small cyst on my kidney. I am sure that on Tuesday they will take more blood work. However I have not had a chest x-ray.

Any questions I missed? Oh and thank you Scott I will check out that link and am sure I will be printing up some questions to ask.

JOTA: I'm assuming you haven't heard your blood test or CT scan results yet and that your doctor will walk through everything on Tuesday.

Since you asked about radiation therapy... That's only be a treatment option for pure seminoma, and it wouldn't cause you to lose the hair on your head.

The TCRC has good lists of questions for your doctor. Check this link.

    JOTA:
If all the x-rays and scan have been read you should be able to develop a complete treatment plan on Tues. Remember to ask about sperm banking.

Hi JOTA: Do you have any more details from your pathology report? The guys and gals on this forum who certainly know a lot more than me are a wealth of information and good counsel. Let us know when you can...

Heard from my doctor today. It is cancer. I have a meeting with the doctor on Tuesday to discuss treatment options. I will have a lot of questions for him but one that is on my mind right now is howlong does radiation therapy normally last and is hair loss normally a problem?

I feel prepared for just about anything. Decided if I start losing hair then I am going to shave it and get some Harley Davidson du-rags.

The hematoma Scott is talking about is so common that I'm surprised the doctors don't mention it beforehand.

You'll want to check with your doctor, but I suspect the swelling you're talking about is a hematoma, blood that collected where the spermatic cord was cut. If so, that's completely normal and will go away over the next several weeks.

I will hopefully get some more information from my doctor on the phone on Friday. But maybe someone here can shine some light on this. Why is there swelling my scrotum? Well more exact why is there so much swelling that it feels like I still have 2 testicles? I know swelling can be normal but I am not sure if this much swelling and pain is normal.

Good to hear from you, JOTA. Rest up and recover. You'll be sore for a few days, but it won't be long before you feel much better. Don't forget the bag of frozen peas!

Hello I am online just long enough to let a few people know I am ok. I am OK and can be expected. However I am having some odd swelling and might go in tonight to have it looked at if it gets any bigger. Will not know about the Cancer until Monday I think.
