    You are all so eloquent

All my little country self would add is:

    "I HATE this %$##@*&%! Disease"

Maybe won't qualify for the list, but it comes from my heart.

    I would also add that:

No matter what, our capacity for love and compassion dwarfs our ability to hate.

As someone who has always tried to suck it up, tough it out, and go it alone, I've learned that sometimes the greatest gift you can give a loved one or a friend it to let them help you.

As odd as it may seem your right. It does take strength to let people see your weakness.

I consider the giving, taking, and sharing of strength the best part of the Human condition. To ignore, deny, or refuse it would be a sign of weakness, even if you think you're being strong. No one can win a battle or a war all by themself.

Probably the most important things I learned

Life is short; always remember to cherish the moment.
Look for the good in everything the bad will only bring you down. Or maybe it would be better said: There is good in everything sometimes you have to look for it.

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer this week. He is just coming to grips with it. My husband told him "You can't change the physical impact cancer has on your body; however, you have the ability to control the mental aspect of the disease - do not let that defeat you." So, I would appreciate someone with greater skill than me to add it to the list if you feel it appropriate. Dianne

Well said and more than appropriate to add. I'm sure there'd be a few &#&$^#^# in there if I were speaking to him. Alas, can't get the Jersey out of the boy (but leave it to a PA Girl to make a fashion statement out of it). Wish him well from me.
