    Found the YouTube version

I finally found the YouTube link to where my question appears. Bill Richardson's "interview" is in this segment, but my (edited) question appears at about 1:20 into the video.

That is a very interesting idea......especially since funding for the space program was entirely based on pride. JFK made the claim that the US would be the first to the moon no matter what, thus inducing a huge amount of national pride and backing. Once they had the backing of the American public, huge amounts of money were dumped into the space program, the top scientists in the world were recruited, and within just a few years we walking around on the moon. Was it worth it financially? That is for everyone to decide on their own. Did it show that unity of people for a singular goal can make the impossible possible? Absofrickenlutely.

We need to kindle that pride again. The same intensity, public shows of support, and government funding that made us the first to get to the moon need to be applied again to defeat cancer. The world is a big place.......it is nice to think that the brightest minds from every country can come together to defeat cancer, but there are just too many boundaries and too many differences in national priorities. If we want everyone to work together as a global unit, we need to catalyze the process by working together as a country to get this into high gear. Pride and power can do a lot to the human spirit.
