    These Wheels

    Hello, is someone there
I’m down here, in this wheelchair
    Please, don’t go away
    I don’t bite, please stay
I need a friend, someone who won’t leave
My world is this chair, it’s very lonely
Maybe we could talk for a little while
I’ll try to be silly, and make you smile
We could share a laugh or even a cry
It might be fun let’s give it a try
For I am a person, just like you
I have wants and needs, and desires too
And just like you I can love and feel
Even though I walk with these four wheels

A strange sensation looking down and up at the same time
To see this Captain on his unwanted vessel like a bright sign
Of how fragile life is but how strong the heart
To put others before self knowing the risks from the start
I look up to you Sir though you speak from below
Act no other way for me, I'm in the presence of a Hero
      Much Love Brother-
      Mark
      I Love My Pack!

Well, now I'm crying again. Captain Dave, you have had a tough row to hoe these past years, and I hope your visit at the doc today goes well. My respect and admiration for the men and women who rush into burning buildings as others run out is boundless. You stand tall as a person in my eyes.

          A FIREFIGHTER GOES

          A firefighter goes,
          To places where others flee,
          Into the flames he seeks,
          The slightest noise or peep,
          To find someone alive,
          Just trying to survive,
A chance to save someone from fate,
          Before it’s too late.

          When the thick smoke flows,
          And a firefighter goes,
He never knows the score till then,
Or the danger that lurks within,
To tame the flame and all its rage,
Is all in a days meager wage.

          When a firefighter goes,
He travels through rain, sleet, and snows,
When the days heat is high,
Or on a cold and frozen night,
Whenever an alarm sounds no matter where,
A firefighter will soon be there.
