I'd love to ride in livestrong Philly since I'm from the Poconos as well, but I can't make it home to PA too often with graduate classes.......nice thing is you can ride 12 months a year in south Mississippi where I go to school! I might be able to plan a trip to Austin for the challenge next year.

My wife has a trek road bike and loves it. Enjoy what's left of the fall riding season. If you go back in this thread you'll find some pretty neat bike route sites.

Ibought an OCR in mid June and put 1500+ miles on it without a single problem. I'd get another in a minute. My only suggestion is to get a triple ring if you can.

Hey Bobby,
Welcome to the TC road bike group. After walking this years Livestrong challenge the idea of riding next years challenge became very important to me. Anyway being new to road biking I can't offer you any advice on bikes. I purchased a Giant OCR3. The OCR3 is the bottom of the OCR line. They offer an OCR2 and OCR1 and they are more inline with the budget you have inmind. It seems Giant offers a good bike for the money. You may want to take a look at them.

Finally caving in to road biking
Hey guys,
It took me a bit longer than most, but I think I'm falling victim to the TC induced road biking bug. I currently have a K2 Lithium 3.0 mountain bike for the trails, but I'm looking at purchasing a comfortable, performance oriented road bike for my commute to work, as well as eventual 50-100+ mile rides on the weekends (and some 10-25 miles rides at lunch).......maybe even a few LiveSTRONG challenges. I'm looking at spending in the sub $900 range, but could be persuaded higher under the right conditions. I've been looking at the Trek 1.2, 7.5FX and 7.6FX.......with the 7.5FX being my main focus at this point after reading reviews and specs. I've also looked over some of what K2 has to offer due to being able to get a good discount through them, but it seems that their quality just doesn't match the Treks and Giants of the world for the price. I'm not looking to become a racer, but performance and the ability to do long hauls semi-comfortably are a must.......every-day-use reliability is also a must. Any ideas? I'm open to all brands and ideas.
Oh, I can also score a brand new Trek 1500 for a grand.......take it or leave it?
