"I thought it would go away."

On the way to the grocery store this afternoon, I noticed a sign that said "Six dangerous words: 'I thought it would go away.'"

I remember wishing that mightily not so long ago, but without effect. Wishing will not make it so.

Thank goodness for modern medicine!
