On Monday, I had a surveillance CT scan at the hospital.

I took today off from work, and I enjoyed watching my sons' plays at the elementary school this afternoon.

When the phone rang just a couple minutes ago, I was convinced it was the oncologist's office. I was right.

"The doctor asked me to call to tell you your CT scan was normal."

I had no reason to believe otherwise, but I was still awfully relieved to hear it. In the moment just before I took the call, I found myself preparing for other possibilities. Phew!

They're not too obtrusive. I've almost come to like them. They give me character.
