Hoping it's nothing, but husband is at the doctors now since he needs the remaining testical checked out after zero issues until the last couple weeks. We have since moved so I'm not sure how fast the process will be here. Have any of you dealt with additional scares that were nothing after being cancer-free for so long? Logically, I think the odds are in our favor of it being something else. But mentally, I can't help but worry. This is the first scare we've had in all those years.

Seven years out from Seminoma I had significant changes in remaining dude. Already had cysts and varicoceles but dull pain lead me back to doc and a new US. results: a new and large cyst that I may need to have a procedure on.

Doctor today didn't say much except refer him to get an ultrasound, He has a business trip coming up so more waiting for that likely! Last time, they actually said he didn't have testicular cancer even with the ultrasound. Then they said it was inconclusive when they repeated it months later. Then said, well, since we can't tell, let's just schedule surgery and we can figure it out when we are in there. It was a very large tumor. So, after going through it taking so long to figure it out last time, we are less trusting since the ultrasound didn't show it last time for some strange reason. That all started 10 years ago. The surgery (and carboplatin) was nine years ago.

I trust you mean postponing the business trip & not the U/S.

The good news is that this almost certainly has nothing directly to do with his first TC. The bad news is that if he is having issues with the remaining guy it can certainly be a brand new primary TC. Guys who get it once are at higher risk for a second primary, I had mine 35 years after the first.You don't mention what the issues are, is there a lump? Pain? Swelling?

I would not delay the U/S, It is amazing to me that the first one couldn't conclude that a 7x5x4 tumor was probably TC. That is nearly unheard of, & I'm kinda glad you won't be going back to the same techs for the next U/S. My guess is you had grounds for a full blown malpractice suit against them.

Please provide more details on his issues, but so far sounds like the business trip is less important than an U/S right now Health comes first, & this isn't something to be dismissed like a common cold.While it may be nothing serious, it might also be his life in the balance, I would not make that gamble.

Thanks for responding. No, he won't be able to get the ultrasound in until after his trip. I think he feels like it took so long to figure it out last time that there isn't the rush. He didn't even schedule the ultrasound yet despite me reminding him. (I expect he will finally call to schedule it today). There is no way he would put off his business trip. (It would be tricky to do anyway - he will be going to China so a lot of coordinating had to be done to set it up). As for symptoms, dull pain that comes and goes that feels very similar to the pain he had before, which also came and went. But, last time he had obvious swelling too, which he doesn't have this time. I was surprised the dr didn't offer up other possible causes - like an infection. That's what I was hoping for - the dr would mention other possible reasons but send him for an ultrasound just in case. I'm not worried so much that I feel he shouldn't go to China. But I thought I was done worrying about testicular cancer at all. I logically know it could easily be nothing, but as the spouse of a very laid back person, sometimes I need to do the worrying for both of us so things get taken care of in a more timely manner.
