  • surgery done, now we wait.

We found out Monday that the urologist and the hospital that the surgery was planed at did not take our insurance so Monday morning we were referred to another urologist and hospital 3 hours away. We got an appointment the same day. So off we went. At the appointment the doctor decided to do surgery the same day(we were not prepared to spend the night but his mother came up and brought us the things we needed). surgery at 6:00 pm he stayed the night at the hospital and had a CT scan at 3:00pm on Tuesday, and was released at about 6:00 pm Tuesday. The doctor looked at the CT scan and said that he did not see anything but has to wait for the radiologist to look for the final report on that. we are to call the doctor on Friday for all the info. I will update when we find anything out.

    Thank You
    Rose

    What a day, Huh Rose?
Sorry to hear about that nasty insurance issue...
Glad to hear that you got it done though- and very promising news on the CT
    Good job.
Now you wait for the pathology report, and you may want to consider lining up a second opinion with an expert oncologist.

I would MUCH rather hear a story like this than one where the person has to wait weeks or even months to get an appointment/surgery! Good luck on the pathology!
4/26/07 - mass confirmed w/ no elevated markers
      4/27/07 - left I/O
      5/2/07 - Dx: 100% seminoma stage 1A
      Surveillance: CT/blood (6 month cycle)
      4/27/13 - 6 years cancer free!

Good thing you got this done, despite the inconvenience of having to go that far to get the surgery. Hope path and CT come back clear!

                  Hi Rose!
Did you get the path report yesterday- or a call from the Urologist?
Regardless of the outcome, I am a believer in second opinions. You may want to the path lab and sign out the slides- an oncologist at a center of excellence will want their pathology lab to read them again.
                  Try to enjoy the weekend.
