Domenic, glad to hear the good news...but you described exactly how I am......if I even hear a slight change in the nurse's voice when she calls me...I think she is about to tell me bad news.....I remember when Chris was sick...I would try to read all the looks the Drs. or nurses would give us...I went totally crazy, when usually it was never anything....glad to know others feel like me.......Mary Ellen

I hang up the phone and have a total mental breakdown. "Why is the doctor calling me back,oh my God they found something, oh no how do I tell Alex, my wife,I can't do this again so soon."
Total bloody insanity in my head. The phone rings a few minutes later and it is the nurse with the all clear and I relax. Amazing how the word doctor set me off so easy. The fear that is lurking in the back of my mind never goes away, ever.

Hello family.
Boyce has his appt today and everything went pretty well. His AFP is 3.6 and his HCG is undetectable. They ran about 8 containers of blood work to test his clotting and his testosterone levels. He also said that the chemo slows down your metabolism and so he is going to have to cut back on calories and fat. Which I assure you not hurt me either. I will be glad to get the blood work back and also he has a CT scan set up. They gave him a bottle of the orange goo and he almost retched at the sight of it.
They told him his risk of reoccurrence has moved from 1 out of 10 to 1 out of 100 now that he has hit the one year mark. He said he has a 35% chance of a different kind of cancer as a result of the chemo. I guess only time will tell on that. Overall I feel better…I will feel excellent when the rest of the blood work and CT scans are back.
love

Sorry...I double checked the numbers...sorry for any anxiety I caused.
He said 1 out of every 35 will get another form of cancer from the chemo...not 35%. I hope this helps and I really hope I did not worry anyone
I am not sure why but he rattled off a few different kinds of cancer that they will continue to watch for. But I am not sure why the risk...I will research it and see if I can find out. Our doctor did say that Chemotherapy treatments also happen to be carcinogenic.
But 1 out of every 35 is a lot better than 35% !!!
