Hi everyone, my boyfriend has been diagnosed with intermediate risk tc with the components of chorio,ec and a little amount of yolk sac. He has completed 3 cycles of BEP and today he will start his 4th cycle. I am worried about lung side effects since after his PFT at thirth cycle, DLCO is now 80% compared to the initial test. We are living in France and we cannot get too much detailed information like in US. When should they stop giving B? Finally, I want to thank you all for all support and sharing information at this forum. It has been my only support during these days and really I appreciate it.

4 BEP and DLCO reduction

The predicted Normal Range for DLCO is 75% to 140%
60% - 79% is considered a Mild Reduction
40% - 59% is considered a Moderate Reduction
values < 40% is considered as a Severe Reduction
I am not sure when/if they may decide to forego the Bleo since he is still in the "Mild" range, but close to "Moderate". My guess is it would depend on who you talk to....each Dr. may have their own opinion.
Also, how is his breathing ? Is he complaining or experiencing any obvious impacts in that area ?

Thanks Matt for your response. He does not have much change on his breathing. I am just afraid this Bleomycin side effect lung toxicity is not something which comes all of a sudden right? By measuring it they can detect and stop B before it happens?

Shoot, I just re-read my reply above. Disregard my sentence about being close to the "Moderate" range. He is barely at the "Mild" range. I agree with Dave. I doubt this is anything to worry about yet. I know I was under 100% at my baseline and I lost 12% from chemo.
