  • Hair loss after Carboplatin x2

    Hi , guys !

    i had carboplatin (900ml) x2 times. (10.2018 / 11.2018)

really wondering about hair loss informations from carboplatin.

At the time, my doctor said that "carboplatin is not involved in hair loss."

After the first round of cancer, my hair was no change, but when I woke up after the second round, my hair fell off my pillow.(Not now.)
and a few days later, I took a shower and thought my top of the head looked a little empty.

I guess I've been missing quite a bit.

As he said, I didn't get bald.
but my hair is still getting pretty hair loss and have gotten very thin. although six months have passed since chemotherapy.

Most of my hair loss occurs when I shampoo.

Is this correct for hair loss caused by carboplatin?
If so, will it improve over time?

If you have any information about this, please let me know !

I cannot recall anyone mentioning hair loss during carboplatin, but hair loss months post chemo of any kind is not normal. Generally, hair is returning at that point, even if it is somewhat "different" than normal. What oes your doc say?

I’m still losing body hair five weeks post BEP completion that I never lost during it. Beard is already growing back. I found this a little strange.

It is a bit unusual, but others have reported hair loss months post chemo, everyone has different reactions.

I have not told the doctor yet. i meet him after 2 months

but I met a dermatologist before a week and he said

it is hard to distinguish what caused hair loss.

It may just be a male hair loss or may have been caused by chemotherapy.

In all chemotherapy, hair loss can occur and its strength is different.
even if Your tumor physician says "This chemotherapy does not cause hair loss."

It just means that carboplatin does not become as bald as a general cancer chemotherapy awareness.
All chemotherapy results in tremendous physical fatigue
and hair cells miss the hair. These symptoms recover very slowly.
But in my opinion, your hair condition is good.
You may think that you have lost a lot of hair
but even if it is a male hair loss, your symptom is not enough to take any action to care.
And if it's a symptom of chemotherapy, it's going to get better over time.

Thank you for always responding, Dave !

Well, In guess we next need to ask: How much hair s lost, how old are you & does baldness run in your family? (especially in the males on your mother's side?)

              I'm only 26 .

have a uncle who mother's side with hair loss but he isn't bald.
my symptoms are seemingly unproblematic, but I clearly recognize myself when shampooing (everytime lost 40~70 my hair).
              it started last 6 months.

according to BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION (title : Relationship between irreversible alopecia and exposure to cyclophosphamide, thiotepa and carboplatin in high-dose chemotheraphy)
high dose carboplatin may cause permanent hair loss.
