Did you get any results from the scans and xrays? That aside chemo sounds right with your markers rising.
Son Jason diagnosed 4/30/04, stage III. Right I/O 4/30/04. Graduated College 5/13/04. 4XEP 6/7/04 - 8/13/04. Full open RPLND 10/13/04. All Clear since.

Treated by Dr. Rakowski of Midland Park, NJ. Visited Sloan Kettering for protocol advice. RPLND done at Sloan Kettering.

Unfortunately, Swan, it does sound like the right thing under the circumstances. In fact the doctor would be negligent if he didn't head you in that direction. I know it's something that sounds frightening, but you will get through chemo just fine. Even though your CT scans are clear, based on your rising markers, it more than likely is just a matter of time before it shows up somewhere. Better to catch it now. Hang in there, if my son can get through it, anyone can! Dianne

Yes, with rising tumor markers after surgery, you need chemotherapy -- which will cure you.
