  • Significance of Microlithiasis

    Hi All,

I had microlithiasis in my cancerous left testicle. I know there is correlation between microlthiasis and TC. What worries me is that I have a single microlith in my right. I've read somewhere that this isn't significant for TC, or contralateral TC, etc, but I'm still worried. Does anyone have any insights?

    Regards,

Well, this study didn't find a link between microlithiasis and testicular tumor development. It concluded: "Extensive evaluation including computerized tomography, testicular tumor markers and testicular biopsy of patients with testicular microlithiasis is unnecessary and also increases patient anxiety. Yet annual ultrasonography and physical examination should be performed if ever until testicular microlithiasis is completely accepted as a nonpremalignant disease."

right inguinal orchiectomy 6/5/2003 > nonseminoma, stage I > surveillance > L-RPLND 6/24/2005 for recurrence, suspected teratoma but found seminoma, stage II > chylous ascites until 9/2005 > surveillance and "all clear" since
